I'm afraid it's a myth..cows usually lie down when they have enough grass consumed... |

After swinging for the best part of three year (recently took a break) we have yet to find a cow that likes to sleep in the wet patch. Feel free to point and ridicule. It's only humour. |

"You know when it's about to rain when you see cows eating the grass like there is no tomorrow" No, not really. Cows will herd together, normally near a ditch when it's about to rain.

Your mum must be a scientist, because studies show that when cows lie down in a field they know rain is on the way. |

I haven't heard reasons why they do it before but like every other kid I was told "when cows lie down, rain's on it's way".
I found it easier to look upwind.

Another fact about cows. Because of the shape of their hind legs, cows can walk up stairs but not down. Imagine being the poor fucker to realise that!
"Quick Daisy, down stairs. My wife is coming home.........what do you mean you can't.........and NOW you tell me this........" |

I have believed this too and passed it onto my kids so it must be true Mind you I also told them I built the M1 and The Channel Tunnel on my weekends off. |

Sorry but cows very rarely lie out in the rain, they always look for shelter near a ditch or under a tree, well at least that's what our cows do but I guess a shower is worse in the west than down south or East coast! |
