Delighted for you but I'm sure the rest of the people here as well as the majority of the people in this country have paid a bigger price for the leeches in government and still we wait for the bankers to pay the price along with the big builders back in buisness with their money hidden away. All I'm saying is i for one won't forget or be bought with one token budget for my vote in the spring. Best of luck to all the independents no more jobs for the boys and scullduggary that lies amongst the privileged whilst homeless die on our streets |

600 more guards needed at least
I did read an interesting article recently re the Guards .It compared the cost of running the Guards versus Police Scotland .
Bot are similar sized countries with similar populations
However Police Scotland have 17,318 officers ,5600 civilian staff with 3800 vehicles
Where as the Guards make do with 13093 offices 2071 civilian staff & 2390 vehicles
So thats over 30% more officers ,3500 more civilian staff and over 1500 more vehicles Police Scotland have at their disposal . Now here is the really amazing bit Police Scotland runs on a smaller annual budget than the Guards about 10% less actually . So while the government are circle jerking about what a great job they are doing the reality of the situation doesn't really seem to match up. |

Short term memory loss already kicks in, oldest trick in the book, give the people a bit of money back into their pockets and they will vote for the same crux again who ripped them off over the last 8years.
Has anyone seen David McWilliams program recently on rte Ireland's great wealth devide? it says it all! People should finally wake up and vote for a proper change! |

Wonder how many are due to retire from now until the end of next year? Won't be 600 but could possibly be at least 200. And savings by closing stations was miniscule

But how can they resettle refugees when they are still people living in hotel rooms across the country and been people bern evicted daily from their own homes just doesnt make sense. |

Ideally both problems would be solved. Personally I think the refugees deserve some shelter as a priority
I don't know enough about the 'housing crisis' but there are friends and family, homeless support services and social welfare available to them.

" Point 1 - this government are not in power for the last 8 years. Their predecessors fucked up the country up, led us into a bailout and are now decrying the effort of the current crew to stabilise the ship for the long term.
Point - 2. I would love change. But where is the alternative? FF. Greens? Independents.
Point 3. You are quare fit!!! |

I'm completly aware that this current government wasn't in power the whole last 8 years, however beside that the crash happened under FF, I don't see any difference between the former and the current government. Nothing has changed since, cronyism and corruption is still rampant, the next bubble is on the way, the divide between rich and the normal folk got bigger, the big ones were bailed out while the people have to pay the bill for the next 50years
The independents are the only alternative there is...

" We need a stable government. One of the metrics that companies looking at investing in a country use is political and societal stability. A government made up of Independents, even in the unlikely event that it could get formed in the first place, would be extremely unstable. This government will be returned. The electorate may give out and moan, but they are sensible now. They have suffered too much to risk further unease by electing a dolly mixture of independents.
Mick Wallace, John Halligan, Micheal Healy-Rae, Claire Daly. Imagine them in charge of the ship.
