Clare got hit hard, houses flooded, people trapped in car etc"
Jeez, people trapped in a car!
Take a look at the World News all the homes lost in Japan or the recent Tornadoes in da Schtates. We have a down pour and the country is on yellow alert.
It's worse when there's a bit of snow, total chaos  |

Yep our tiny lite country
We are not geared to this at all. They react so slowly rather than bring prepared long term - heart goes out to people affected

Garda: We have two people trapped in a BMW X5 near Ennis they are running low on Cappuccinos and have watched most the movies on the DVD player. Soon they'll have to resort to the kids movies. Get a unit to them asap, over!

if kaiser can't apply it for some unknown reason I will be delighted to step In and take on the roll of application.genius at applying chemical, fertiliser etc to crops .so applying sunscreen would be easy peasy |

The first storm? Oh you mean there were power cuts in dublin so therefore it's the first storm.
Down the west it's been blowing a storm since May. Last night was the same as other nights. Over the summer bridges and roads were swept away as were piers.
But last night some poor dubliners couldn't boil a kettle at breakfast. So clearly the world was coming to an end  |

Just to correct you on something, there was something like 80 mm of rain yesterday and last night so while it may have been just "the same as other nights" there aren't very many other nights on record recently with 80mm of rainfall in less than 24 hours |

You've misinterpreted my point. The previous poster had said that it was basically just a normal day in the west. I pointed out that normal days don't involve 80mm of rain which is pretty much what fell in parts of the west and especially the south west.
