Divorce proceeding has start in several countries today as spouses of ahsley maddison members find out their partners are on the list of the 37 million that has been posted online. Ouch!
The really bad thing is in some countries people who are on the hacked ahsley maddison database could be facing the death penalty
Looks like this is going to be end of ahsley maddison. I'm pretty sure they are facing legal proceedings from members as well.
What a can worms. |

i think the hackers wanted the site closed down ashley madison refused so the hackers uploaded all the information on the dark web, i think they were some christian group or something who were against cheating but not sure on that. |

It's a part of the web that allows websites and other content to exist anonymously and you can use software like Tor to access it.
They say it's at least as big as the ordinary web that most people are familiar wit. I doubt it's that large but who knows? It's anonymous after all. |

Corky can tell us the technical side of it, it seems to be another internet that you need encrypted software to access. It's not mainstream content and I think it's unregulated so a lot of nasty stuff is in there. But also there is a lot of stuff that your government doesn't think you should see but also you can surf without anyone snooping on you (apparently). |

True. Journalists and all types use it to communicate and all that jive.
There is a lot of illegal stuff there where you can buy drugs and guns and anything else you can think of. It's possible to police it. |

You don't have to be a computer wiz to use it. There are guides you can google that will show you how to access it. It's pretty straight forward. |

Serves them right. If they are married and cheating they're getting what they deserve.
No need to cheat. If they aren't happy in their marriages they should split up. And before people claim "Oh maybe they won't split due to their kids" etc my answer to that is unhappy marriages affect children a lot worse than seperated/ divorced couples do. |

You don't have to be unhappily married to be on a site like this !
Some people in the non-swinger world would classify swinging as inherently cheating ( not me btw as long as both partners are consenting fully).

I just googled how do you see the list or check the list and the sites Google spat out at me asked me to enter an email address to search, so seems to me if someone was cheating and used an email address their partner knew about its pretty dim, unless there's a way of searching using CC details or name etc |

It's a lot of hot air if you ask me. Surely anyone with some sense uses a unknown gmail or hotmail etc email address for sites like this, set up in 2 minutes. Also payments can be made without using personalised credit cards. I'm getting already bored of that whole AM frenzy, great topic for the press in the quiet summer time.... |

Why does anyone care? Its all very 'Bella'... 'I was the first AM divorce..see pages 2,3,4 etc'
Unhappy people getting divorced.. Big whup.
Btw - a UK divorce will take minimum 6 weeks even with the two parties and the court acting in sync on day one to move through three stages quickly. That wont happen. Any 'AM Divorce' sky is reporting is actually an existing divorce where one party is looking publicity... Yawn. |

How safe is all our information?

We pay our subscription through PayPal, is that end secure?

Back from the sin bin
Anyways, I've been looking through the am database dump I downloaded and it's not the complete dump. It about 12.7gb and has five or six tables and email backups I think. I have only looked through the members email table info table and found my email address in there. I was the 9,100, and something thousand member to join am.
The lamer who posted the am database on line put up another dump yesterday, so there is probably a lot more stuff in there.
I've read some of the lamer's crap too and it's definitely a personal vendetta against the guy that owns am. Maybe a disgruntled employee or jealous competitor or the guy's wife shagged 1000 men from ashley maddsion or something.
It's more than likely one person too I would say. Look at the poxy name he came up with for the imaginary hacker group that did it. The Impact Team? Wtf? He could have called himself Lord Ownage or Rainforest Guppy or something more imaginative. Real hackers groups would come up with a better name than Impact Team. lol
I think this fool will actually get found and prosecuted. |

My email i use for "adult activities" is on the list.
I joined up a few years ago when i was unhappily married just to suss it out. I joined another swingers site too. I never went through with meeting anyone and my marriage ended soon after anyway.
I never payed for either site as it looked like a waste of money, and closed my accounts soon after.
So yeah, I'm one of the statistics but it doesnt affect me in any way. |

I've met a couple of women on am. It's pretty good. I looked at the member info table and it has their profile text, pretty much like they do here. You know, man stuck in sexless marriage. Bored house wife looking for fun. Woman looking for someone to treat her right and so on. I already knew all that because I've been a member their for years and know what the people are like.
I was chatting to this one woman there about 4 years and she was thinking about cheating on her husband.
We got to chatting and texting or something like that and I asked her why do you want to meet another man if you are married? Why don't you just divorce him? She said she doesn't want to leave him and loves her husband very much but he is the only man she has ever been with. I'm like, wow really? You have only ever had sex with one man in your whole life. She was 45 and quite attractive. No wonder she wanted a fling.
After a while she says I'm not sure it's safe to meet because what if he finds out it. I said don't meet anyone if you don't think it's safe to do so. Delete my email and texts or number and anything else have a good think about it. So she did and I never heard from her again. |

Sounds pretty standard to me.
There is a lot of misinformation and haters of am in the mainstream media, like tv3 and sky I have seen. Only the last 4 digits of card numbers would be in the database if at only on subscription server sites like dating sites. No card numbers have been compromised as far as I know and probably never will. I wouldn't worry about that. |

another not so interesting thing is that the first 1000 profile are all fake and use email address from the am domain.
I guess when the guy started the site he had to make up a whole bunch of fake profiles to get people to join. Same with any dating site I guess. No one is going join a empty dating site or job site etc. |

Me no. I had to put a pic up and pm quite a few women before I got the hang of it. Now it's easy.
Probably cost me about 40 euro before I got my first meet. It cost 70 euro to buy credit. Lasted me 5 years or more, only ran out a few weeks ago with two chicks left hanging and wondering where I got to. hehehe oh well.
I met my last gf there. We were together for 2 years but she kicked me out about 12 months ago. |

You have feel sorry for the couple that own ashley maddiosn. To be the victim of such a vindictive attack and have their business destroyed before their eyes and all the other people's marriages it has affected.
Reminds me of my divorce in a way and my psycho ex wife. Pretty much the same thing happened to me except I didn't make 20 million bucks a year. Nasty business. |

It has the source code for the site in it. I want to take a look through that. Don't care about the internal emails company data. *yawn*
None of the data from the database dumps can be verified as accurate and is pretty much useless except to a spammer who wants the email addresses.
The skidmark who uploaded the database dumps probably alter the data in the tables to make it look like there were mostly males on the site and millions of fake profiles. I know better because I've been member there for 5 years. |

It wouldn't have card numbers in there. Your server has to be PCI compliant before a bank would approve that. Not many admins would go to the trouble and just let the card numbers go straight through to the payment gateway and let the processing company worry about securing the card numbers. The admin would never even see the card numbers in most setups, or shouldn't. |

"Just spotted one of our neighbours on the DB. Lol"
Hehe, drop a note in their mail box asking for 10,000 euro.
A lot of the claims made by the impact tool about AM are crap and the guy knows nothing about card processing companies and the banking system. Sounds like a teenager.
AM where telling the truth. They did delete users profiles from their site but you can't delete card transactions because, for one, they are on the card processing companies servers and 2, the banks don't allow anyone to delete transaction history.
The fake profiles claim was thrown out of court 2 years ago. It's was a former employee that wanted 10,000 bucks to settle a bogus claim for her writing 1000 fake profiles. Said she got sore hands typing lol.
I think AM has been hard done by but they should have had better security, as the person who stole everything claims he was on their system for years. |

"So Teaser77, can I ask, do you think it was right for all their members details to be posted online and all those lives and marriages to be destroyed or potentially. Are you one of these people that think deserved and their spouses deserved it?
If it happened to fab and you were exposed do you think that would be fair and tuff titties to all of us?"
You are not doing like for like, silly man.
AM is a site for cheats. Fab is a site for swingers, the majority of swingers are open and honest with their partners.
For the record....you reap what you sow. If it blows up in your face.. Tough shit. |

It's not just for cheats. You obviously have never looked at the place. There are an awful lot of singles there, as I said.
Sure their maybe cheats there but that's their business. Some people would think people who join fab are disgusting too. Probably most of the people who bad mouth members of AM as well. Right wing conservative christan types I bet. |

I think that the analysis and breakdown of the different types of people along with social and interpersonal etiquette in this day and age will make for some interesting reading following the release of info from the AM site.
I feel sorry for the amount of partners and children of the site members who have had their view of the world upset by this and the breach of trust along with the knowledge that a loved one was deliberately deceitful must have a terrible effect on a person who was unaware that there was a need or desire unfulfilled in a relationship which couldn't be talked about, struggled with and accepted over time. |

"One suicide already in the states reported over this."
we were only talking about this the other day. While not defending them in anyway there must be millions of very stressed people out there. Sadly in an number of cases this may lead to more suicides around the world when some people feel through the cloud of anxiety and stress that they have no way out. I wonder if the hackers thought of this consequence irregardless of whatever motive they had. |

Look like it was a cop that killed himself. I can live with that.
Quote from news site:
It appears that the first suicide in relation to the Ashley Madison hacking has potentially occurred. With plenty of suicidal threats that ran rampant even prior to the huge release of Ashley Madison names, to hear near confirmation that a person actually killed himself due to appearing on the Ashley Madison leaked list of names is jarring.
According to My San Antonio, three city of San Antonio email addresses — which all used the @sanantonio.gov extension — were discovered on the hacked list of Ashley Madison names. Two of those leaked email addresses belonged to law enforcement officials — one of whom is a San Antonio Police Department detective and the other is reportedly a captain, according to the publication. The third San Antonio email address was linked to an employee who previously worked for the city. |

Think of who is left to deal with the mess they made. If they had anything about them they would face it head on and not leave it to the innocent to make sense of their shamefull actions |

You say this and then say after finding out it was a cop who committed suicide that "Look like it was a cop that killed himself. I can live with that."
I suppose that makes you the same as you describe the journos |

"No, I don't feel sorry for them at all. It didn't work out, they played with fire & dropped the match. This is just the pyre now.You seem to have a serious hard on for slagging off people who have extra marital affairs. It's really none of your business what people do. That shit will eat you up...... If it doesn't affect you personally, don't worry about it....."
Ok, I won't. I'll be happy instead. |

So I'm not a fan of the pigs. I admit that.
Defacing a website may be hilarious to some. I've dome it myself for a laugh but posting private and personal user data online from a compromised site is another thing. Especially from a dating site like that.
I don't think it was heroic or morally justified. It's causing a lot of hurt and pain. How many spouses will be murdered or commit suicide or be beaten senseless over this? |

Everyone is here and on similar sites for their own reasons... Those reasons are not anyone's business but their own...
Yes some run the risk of being outed or found out and their loved ones getting hurt in the process but that is a chance they take and make... And in many cases not taken lightly..
These hackers ,media, and fundamentalists don't see everything from the high moral ground..
In no case is a life worth losing...

my understanding is that these groups blackmail the sites for money and if they don't pay the release the data. There is also a high moral ground spin when they release details " the poeple need to know " sort of thing . |

A lot of people are very quick to judge people on the site and take a moral high ground, I'm sure if something similar happened on FAB and your details were leaked you would be upset and worried too. No matter how you feel about cheating it's still not right that people's personal details, addresses and credit card details have been posted all over the Internet for anyone to see.
The site wasn't just for married people and at the end of the day what people do with their lives is their choice and their business. I'm not going to judge people for doing something when swinging is also seen by some to be just as "disgusting and immoral". |

The difference between the swinging scene and a married person having an affair is that married people or couples who swing together are open and honest about it with each other the same with partners who have open relationships, the deceit and secrecy of an affair is what bothers some people.
As for the comments about suicide victims mentioned earlier, where was the love and support of their partners during the troubling times that these poor souls were suffering through.I've had friends over the years who have topped themselves and I can tell you here and now that 2 of 3 in the past were directly caused by the actions of their female partners, one married and one living with the girl for a number of years, the third guy we think was going to be outed as gay in his workplace.A decision to commit suicide can happen as quickly as the time it takes to flick a light switch but generally it is after a length of time and deep despair within the person themselves and also can be a decision made from which there is no going back.
I remember when I was a teenager a scouting group of us say a woman walking into the sea fully clothed in an attempt to do herself in,she was rescued by some of the more senior in our group, less than a month later myself and a friend found her corpse when we were playing football on the other side of Dublin bay.We don't know what goes on in someones head at all to drive them to such a desperate act but let me repeat this, those who are supposed to love and care for them have a lot to answer for as does the church attitude from many yrs ago of stigmatising the dead by not allowing them be buried in consecrated ground,an institution that is supposed to care for it flock,I know times have changed in this regard but attitudes prevail.

Yeah I love how they're actually attempting to portray themselves as the good guys. It goes something like this
'Well we broke the law, hacked hundreds of thousands of people's private details, and blackmailed people for money. But because the blackmail victims stood up to us, we've decided to do the morally right thing to do. Because if we didn't then we'll never be able to extort money from our future blackmail victims'

"Yea id say they are going to be lots of broken familys over this reading the papers this morning unreal."
There will be lots of broken family's over this coming out,but the blame for these broken family's is caused by the person who decided to play away from home.. What sort of a person does this, knowing the hurt they will bring on their partner and most of all the children they are met to protect, not hurt. |

"A man unafraid to speak his mind even if it gets him in trouble. Very entertaining.

Have to say I found him very interesting on the forum. I didn't agree with everything he said, but I do admire how he stood his ground, and how he kept his sense of humour when on the receiving end of a few backlashes. |
