It's usually when a sub comes out of subspace and hits a low, it's one of the reasons aftercare is so crucially important. Someone else can explain it better than me I'm sure |

"It sounds like it's linked with depression/mental illness from what I've read so far "
I don't think so. After a serotonin high it's normal to hit a low, but it doesn't happen every time. |

"What's the distinction with regular sex? You can get high off that too.
"
Being sub isn't the same as regular sex, someone is usually controlling your pleasure/pain & in my limited experience it is a lot more draining. I have had to be literally tucked into bed after we had finished. |

Me too. I think it's comparable to having an adrenaline high and crash - there are loads of endorphins and serotonin floating around your system so afterwards you're left drained (good word Candy!). |

I get that, the physical draining...ever go on too many rollercoasters
But there is a deeper emotional part judging by the comments on the swinger advice forum.
Maybe some don't have the mental fortitude to be submissive or are doing it for the wrong reasons if it leads to a deep depressive state after?
Equates to a drug addiction maybe? |

Yes, it's the mental exhaustion that flips the off switch, that's when your dom needs to be whateverthehell I need him to be!
Sometimes quiet in another room, sometimes tickling my back, sometimes putting chocolate in my mouth. If you don't have that support afterwards it can be hard to get into it in the first place. |
