So I recently quiet my job its the first time in 12 years I've been unemployed. Going to take some time out. Is it as hard to find a job while actually out of work or is that just a social/economical myth.

Depends on the industry! Afew years ago when the company I worked for posted looking for staff we would get hundreds of applicants, we posted a position a wk ago and not even 20 replies and out of them at least 8 didn't attach a cv!

So really depends on how you present urself, ur experience and ur salary expectations!

Best of luck though and enjoy ur time out

Hopefully that has changed for you mate. I'm a chef by trade so there is plenty of work in that sector just wondering how long do I take off before it becomes a factor. I'm thinking a couple months off shouldn't be an issue.

Back in the day that was true but once things picked up, a whole bunch of people who were in jobs that they hated but couldn't leave mid recession, took that leap.

I totally believe it, the last 8 or so years were an employers market, that's changing and fast

Good luck lad. Maybe a little break is all thats needed but maybe use the time wisely and do a part-time course to develop your skills or read up on some motivational techniques. Hope you enjoy your time off.

The one time I was unemployed I was nearly suicidal over it. Not something I would go back to in this day and age.

It's "I'll rip your head off and shit down your neck". It's from the Doctor Detroit movie and Duke Nukem 3D game.

I walked out of my job recently and thought the same because that's what I was always told but I had a new job in less than 2 weeks so I believe that if you want something you can make it happen!
