Herself has had a scare recently so it a goid thing that tgeybhave come up with a blood test for this it's called a CA 125 blood test it it wise to get this test done ovarian cancer is a silent killer it all good with herself no cancer just a 2 centimeter cyst on her right Overy so we erge any females to get this blood test done it could save many lives |

I lost my mum to Ovarian Cancer 5 years ago, I have been battling with my doctors ever since to be able to have this test and they won't do it as I don't display symptoms.
My mum was 46 when she passed and her first sign was when she collapsed, the paramedics thought she was having a heart attack, it turned out that over 8 litres of fluid was in her abdomen and had to be drained asap as it was putting pressure on all her organs. 2 weeks later she had another 8.5 litres drained and was confirmed as stage 4.
My sincere thoughts are with anyone who has to deal with this awful disease, it rips through families and takes no prisoners

The test is not accurate enough for general screening, normally only women at high risk (i.e. with strong family history of breast and ovarian cancer) will be tested.

our doctor does it for her to keep a check on the levels it should be under 30 her is at 85

My mum was diagnosed a few months ago, it was a quick thing. Before we knew it Grade 3. 8 litres removed and lots of chemo. They've done a blood test because in Scotland they do a gene test to try to avoid it happening to future family or try to prevent. My mum has been so strong, lost all her hair and hopeful of it growing back.... for as long as she has. No idea how long she has left but the message is.... if you think you may be at risk get checked...bug the life out your doctor. There is no reprieve from ovarian cancer when it has taken hold. I hope your partner is well and gets through it xx |

We have been told we will be screened but only if my mothers tests come back as a genetic cancer. It's quite horrendous, I'm not even thinking of myself, I'm worried for my child and his. My friends and I go and sign up to cancer research runs for fun and get muddy and have laugh but reality is they need to find a cure for it.... sooner the better. I seen a previous post saying it rips through a family. It's ripped right through ours. We used to be distant but friendly but now it's all about blame and hurt. Crazy how people react. |

Ps my sister had a massive ovarian syst, her doctor told her she had a kidney infection for 6 months. She ended up having 2 major operations. Gps don't recognise it even in the worst cases. |
