Ok people I do realise this is a swing site, but I have found that we all have big hearts on here and like to help those who are less fortunate than ourselves.
Firstly,I am not looking for your money ok.
Great. So,at the moment on the Irish grabonestore, there is a deal whereby for €20 u can pay for a sleeping bag and a foil mat, given to a homeless person on the street by the Simon community charity. I understand that plenty on here already contribute to charities of their choice, but I also feel it is good to be aware of these opportunities to help in a very simple and discrete manner.
I am in no way forcing my views on anyone on here, merely making the information available to anyone who chooses to make use of it.
Thanks for reading people and any questions, feel free to ask here

"Sounds like a great idea - €20 well spent! "
Can even add in a hot breakfast for an extra €5 too.
Another well known outdoor pursuits shop in Dublin ran a very similar deal last year also and it was a rip roaring success but sadly a lot of people only heard about it when the deal was over. That's the main reason I am being rather pushy with this one. |

Cant say that I have pedro, sadly during the approach to Xmas I am overrun with errands to do. And tbh, people would pay me to shut up rather than busk |

If you chose a charity to support its because you feel strongly about it.
My charity is to give a terminally I'll child a trip to Disney land Orlando with all the medical support they need for the trip.
I find it rewarding work to know you have made a difference.
Not taking away from other charities, there all equally important. |

While it's a good cause. It shouldn't have to be.
It is not in out constitution that every irish citizen has the right to a home. Instead they waste public money on referendums on presidential age.
Write a letter/email/sign an online petition demanding that this issue is dealt with. Contact your local TDs about the hike in rents causing people to end up on the streets
Private rental accommodation rose 6.7% in the last year. There's no legislation as such, just a report printed quarterly that suggests market values.
There isn't enough social housing for people, rent allowance doesn't reflect the market value of properties. There are unfinished ghost estates in the country that could help these destitute families. Protest.
Have a voice and use it.
Donate and help a great cause but
Homelessness should never happen in the first place and in my opinion we're not kicking up enough shit to prevent it in the first place |

I at the moment support a charity for suicide which is close to my heart but I also am supprting the children's heart unit in Crumlin hospital where my granddaughter is been treated. I will still give to that charity but it will need to wait till next week I'm afraid. |

I will admit Tina those are both charities I have strong feelings for also. It was the simplicity of donating something practical that attracted me to this venture moreso than anything else tbh |

I like a lot of other people feel the government is quiet happy to sit back and let people do the charity thing (whatever charity you support) as it doesn't drain their finances but allows them to be seen to "being concerned".
It's a damning endearment on the fools who run this country and it will never change, example it's quicker to fine someone who can't pay their TV licence than to take their home from them it's revenue grabbing. Likewise it's sickening to see property owners who forked out thousands in stamp duty being asked to pay property tax again revenue grabbing, and the oudasity of the government to put it out yesterday for companies to have forums about meeting the living wage!! They can't see the elephant in the room with the taxs.
Folks if you can afford to give to a charity do so...if you can't go and ask how can you give your time to help out. I do my bit for a couple of charities during the week and do sponsored runs/hill walks etc. I do it because I want to give back to those who helped me before...it takes a few hours a week out of my short exsistance on earth.
