As a father of a young guy with Downs I find the word retarded in any form of reference to be disgusting .. Well said ^^^ we aren't living in the 1800s Ffs |

Some are apparently.. As a mother of a young guy with autism it is extremely offensive and just goes to show how backward people can be. I'd suggest he goes off and does some research to understand why it's offensive and should never be used. |

Well why don't you ask the Oxford English dictionary to remove it because you think it's disgusting. I think using it in this context was fairly apt and quite possibly one of the least offensive ways possible. Not interested in arguing with you about it either, Im done but as the Lion says, If you need to get it off your chest then fire at will. |

The modern usage isn't really related to the original and offensive meaning of the word.
Just like 'that's so gay' isn't a homophobic slur.
