Just wondering if the car someone drives makes you form an option of someone?
I used to drive a red convertible but recently had my wings clipped into a very sober eco friendly little hatchback..
I feel people look at me differently with such a "grown up" car..
What ya think? Do you feel that way? |

Do you feel as though you just blend in with all the other cars? Yeah, I found that after getting a brand new car. I like having a new car but it doesn't get looks. |

Massive fan of cars. My own isn't too flashy but I feel good when I approach it and when I get out of it! That's main thing to me. It's as dirty as myself at the moment! |

I'm indifferent, but my partner does have a "luxury brand" unusual model and I've noticed it draws looks. |

People do treat cars different. I drive more than one.
In the 5 series people dont really ride my arse or cut me up. People are more willing to sit behind me when I am doing the speed limit on the motorway etc.
In the hatchback people dont like to sit behind me on roads, they want to overtake me. They do dangerous things sometimes when the L plates are on it, I'm not gonna yield my right of way cause you think you can bully a learner.
I find the level of driving in Ireland varies from just fine to absolutley horrific. It doesnt seem like we all met the same standard passing the tests.
I think the N plates are an awful idea, it just makes full licensed people bully learners for 2 years more.
The idea of them plates abroad is because they have so so much motorways that you can drive all day on a motorway or you could in theory not see one for a year or two just driving around your own town. They generally give the equivilent of N plates more space on their motorways. We dont, we are awful motorway drivers. Every single day there is a crash on some off/onramp on the m50 etc. Every, single, day.
Anyway, yeah irish people will judge you hard over your car. Never in a negative way, like you're no good for having a hatchback, but "i'm better than them cause I have a landrover" kind of thing. |

I have a Mondeo Titanium X. I don't really give a flying fuck what people think of me or my car. I am the one who drives it.
I am looking at moving to a BMW 530d. I like them. Again, don't Cate what people think of it. I'd buy it because I like it. Nothing else.
I drove a Skoda superb for years. Great car...... |

Oh definitely. We all have opinions about the 'white van man' and the 'boy racer' so why wouldn't we extend that to other cars and drivers.
On the other hand, our own personal choices as we get older, tend to reflect practicality rather that personality.

I had jap imports for years. Toyota lexus soares. They a copues popular in the drift scene but getting way too old now. Had 2 twin turbo GT's and 2 v8's, one v8 luxor barge was for spares.
Don't see any of them on the roads these days. Very pricey to maintain and new parts are hard to come by if not impossible. So I got rid off all mine. They are great looking 90's jap muscle cars. Had years of fun with them but cash flow and divorce meant the toys had to go |

Had a Corsa for 3 yrs and don't think anyone ever looked at me. For last 4 yrs I have a 2008 Ford Focus titanium (hard top convertible), now I get looks but it's usually kids as the roof goes up or down lol. But I love it, I saw it in a Ford dealership window while 'test driving' an Astra and fell in love as I drove by. Went in, asked if it'd be possible to transfer my insurance for 24 hrs to get a real feel for it & 2 days later I went back after work at 2pm and test drove it all the way to Eyre Square Galway and back (from North Dublin). Left it back next day and put a deposit down, 4weeks later it was mine. To this day I still have a smile every time I drive it |
