If you were my wife i'd slap the arse clean off you.......... then again you'd probably like that so you'd drive even quicker! |

We don't have fast lanes either. Driving lane plus overtaking lane or lanes. The speed limit is exactly the same in each. Insurance companies won't punish you for that anyway as they look at the context of your points. They don't like points for using your phone while driving though. |

"After the easter bank holiday weekend 9 penalty points came in my door.....
I'm skating on thin ice here "
Oh dear, I suspect your insurance company won't be happy bunnies when it comes to renewal time. I wonder how much difference it'll make? |

"I got 3 points for doing 58 in a 50....
And 66 in a 60...
Definitely don't think I deserved them!"
The law says you do deserve them if your over the limit. Cops have a cpl of kph over the limit to use their discretion but only 2 or 3 |

2-3 would be the error in the instrument's reading is my guess |

Lets be honest here.. if the limit is 60 and you're doing 66 there should have been discretion and common sense used. If you hit someone at 66 it isnt going to be much different to hitting them at 60. I'm all for road safety but i think being a fewph or kph over the limit shouldnt cause you to be punished so severely. A moneyaking exercise i suspect. |

From what I know the speedometer in the car will usually suggest that you're going faster than you actually are, so when you're actually doing 80km/ph you're really doing a bit less. This suggests that if you were doing ten over the limit, your speedometer would probably have been telling you that you were fifteen or twenty over it. I'm sure it differs from car to car though. |

"Didn't think cameras can take a picture with two cars one been overtaken as it can not prove which was speeding... As car in overtaking lane could be undertaken by car inside....
"
Have you noticed those lines painted on the road in both lanes???(for fixed cameras) |

Just the vans now? I got my selfie done in London last month! I remembered the advice Mr69 told me so hoping I won't get stung. |

Is that strange one in Kilmainham still operating? I think it was for illegal turns. |

I don't know. All the fixed speed cameras were decommissioned a couple of years ago. There's a new camera in Blackhall Place for catching people running red lights at the Luas crossing though, and more of those to follow along the Luas lines as well. No fixed speed ones as far as I'm aware. |

This is true, I know from those fancy digital signs that 55 indicated is 50 on the sign and yesterday that 80 indicated is really 78.
Either way, there isn't much excuse for speeding. Cops are all over it, so use your head! |

Haven't had points given to me in years. One of the guys working with me was notorious for speeding though. Was caught multiple times and as his driving license was from a different country all he got was fined. Lot more careful since the law was changed |
