I think it's safe to say nobody knows - this is uncharted territory

What do you want to know about Greece OP? They have borrowed a lot of money and can't pay it back .... They have already missed a repayment to the IMF and have another one due to the ECB on the 20th of July they can't make

That's from a point of view of a banker....

I'd have thought that was a reasonable statement of the reality. The moral issue is whether they should be forced to make the scheduled repayments at any cost, but that's a separate issue. The nearly 30% unemployed and almost 40% living below the poverty line aren't going to get much help from it I suspect.

That is the truth. Like anyone who borrows, an expectation of repayment on the part of their creditors is how it works.

It's financial facts listed one-sided leaving out loads of other crucial facts. The whole crisis is far to complex to boil it down to 3 to 4 financial facts

I wonder if the All Ireland Finals could be played there? They might make more money from that than from Irish supporters at the Olympics.

Spot on. The money that they borrowed wasnt for the greek people. It was for the bankers. Similar situation to our own. At least they have a government thats trying to help them out of the mess the previous governments got them into..

Paddy, Seamus, Sean and Delaney were stopped at the Brazilian border last week in a 40ft lorry with wooden stakes and barbed wire......... border guard asks "who are you and where are you going"...... Paddy says "we're on our way to the olympics...... we're the Irish fencing team"......

They will pull through it due to actually having a government that seems to care for its people and they seem to be adiment on not bowing down to European power houses. It's also a sad fact that they will truely benefit from the Tunisia disaster. You can be sure a lot more people will start going to the European side of the Mediterranean now and not North Africa.

So is Ireland, per capita debt of Ireland is bigger than the Greece one! But hey we're the good ones (or the stupid ones?) who want to pay everything back what we owe...
