Hoping some of you can give me a few tips on places to stay very near Westport. Thinking of going there for 2 nights of the August Bank holiday weekend but there are only a couple of hotels with availability that are charging a huge amount so don't mind staying out of town or even a nearby town.

Thanks, Mrs P.

Try Air-b&b. I know someone who does it near the Quays and about 10 mts walk into the centre of town

Or, embrace the West and go camping; great campsite at Westport house. Authentic experience.

All this poop about westport. Westport gets hundreds of tourists every weekend and treats them accordingly. It's incredibly unfriendly

Thanks everyone for the replies, Wyatt hotel is working out at €340 for 2 nights, it's more than I am willing to pay. I will check out the other suggestions, I couldn't see myself camping though!

Everywhere is going to ride you this time of year (n not in a good way). Westport is a good spot if you like the tourist postcard image of Ireland

I've spent lots of time in Westport over the past 12 years and I couldn't say that I've ever encountered an unfriendly person there. Have enjoyed every visit, be it staying in hotels or camping.

It is touristy but that's what keeps the town going.
