I was a freckled awkward red head as a child and a teen and was always the butt of a joke.
As an adult I embraced my typically Irish appearance and all of that nonscence stopped.
I think it's more the confidence that comes with maturity that makes a person sexier rather than the colour of their hair.
Have opted to go blonde lately ........ You know just to see if blondes really do have more fun
