This one really goes out the the 5 times a week in the gym people..

I tend to go straight from work, or in evenings.. I have been early in mornings however never before work.

Does anyone go in the mornings pre work?

Is it any better?

I used to go before work. However,I stopped for 3 reasons

1. Didn't get to eat beforehand so that affected my training

2. I crashed around 4pm and was useless in work for the remaining two or three hours.

3. I sometimes got lazy and stayed in bed.

Only the first one is a legit reason.

we go at 11:30 12:00 as we find it good as we have some good protein in us and we go 5 days a week

in the past, i trained in the evenings.

i changed to training in the morning about 2 years ago because I was busy in the evenings studying.

now i love training in the mornings. i could not face training in the evenings after work/college etc.

initially, for the first month, it was a shock to the system. but once I got into a routine, was organised, and got to bed early (10ish), i would not change back.

i love the feeling right after I have my shower, feel a million dollars.

the pro's for me are that I have my evenings free to do what I want and to have a proper dinner.

the pro's from a training point of view are very beneficial

- you raise your metabolic rate for the rest of that day so you are buring extra calories all day so great for fat burning.

- you sleep great at night. i had found that when i trained in the evening i was wound up and my sleep was affected

- you are eating dinner at a normal hour. when i trained in the evening i was eating very late, or not at all

tips from my experience of morning training:

- get up half hour early

- have a strong coffee - found to be very beneficial for training in general ( i avoid that supplement energy shite)

- keep your work outs short. i do HIIT, circuits etc and I dont go over 25 mins (not inc. 5 min warm up). to keep workouts short, I add more resistance, keep reps low and increase the intensity intstead of adding time

- have everything organised the night before, gear, the workout, day clothes, coffee, morning piece of fruit etc

to the previous poster how mentioned the slump. if you have a nutritious snack for that 3pm time period, it will combat this. the body needs food, i had a fruit smoothie ready.

I currently train in the evenings but that means We don't get dinner until late, sometimes it's been bout 9pm. So I think I'm just gonna have to give this morning training a go n see if it helps any. Thanks guys x

i had the same issue till i bought free weights for at home so 4 days a week i do weights and 2 days i go running and then 1 day off

I've always been lucky that i had a flexible work schedule where i could go the gym about 9.30, after school drop and the place quietned down.

Now i train with a group that only do evenings, (trainers do PT daytimes) i train about 6pm and its really working for me.

I'm well hydrated, had a snack and eaten appropriately during the day and ready to rock for the class.

I tend to prep dinner so its easily cooked when i get back. I will have a quick protein shake then hit the shower and dinner in ready soon after.

As i'm done early enough in the evening i'm not still hyper when i go to bed.. 10.30 ish...

Loving doing class out in the sun at the moment too..

I self-train every day. Mostly in the evenings.

I've a fabulously sculpted body as a result and I love looking at myself in the mirror after I finish training.

I could have a bit of bi in me as I love the view.

Prefer after work, 3/4 times a week. Mixing the type of a training not to get bored with it. Guy can be so much fun, I love it. Best is to see how much your body is transforming towards the goal you have made at start.

remember the first few weeks are the hardest.

i would recommend going every second morning to give your self a rest day.

At the moment it's 1 daytime and 2 evenings and 3 runs along the beach on the days I'm not at the gym

Before work suits me best not to busy and lease you get a good workout and your not waiting around to much like the evening plus can't get near the shower either.

Everyone's different and every body body is different change it up and see what works best for u ! I have ward from some Testosterone is ment to be at it's highest in morning time and hence the best time to train and build muscle ! Personally for me it would depend how tired I am and how much I have eaten during the day and what my energy levels are like to do a good work out and get the best ! Mornings I might be fresh and full energy have great work out , however some days if I leave it later and train after five meals and am well fed I'll train and lift very heavy ! Every body is different find what works best for u

Only recently started to go to the gym. Twice or 3 times a week. Find early morning is best. Less people about so less posers imo. Also easier to take your time on the equipment you want/need to use without having someone standing over waiting on you to finish.

As for food. I usually have very little to eat before I go. Maybe a coffee. Maybe a banana. Gets me through for the 45-60mins and then have a fruit smoothie ready for after and the long drive to work lol.

I mix it up between morning and evenings because of my competitions. I find that this helps keep my conditioning at a higher level than just going at the same time every day.

Same with anything your wayy more productive in the morning which means a good workout as for not eating get it into ya simple!! I did go in the mornings but changed to the evening cause off the earlier starts in the summer but hey whatever feels right go for it

forgot to mention that if you train in the evening, you will only raise your metabolic rate (burn extra calories) untill you go to sleep but if you train in the morning you raise your metabolic rate for most of the day. thats why its far better for fat burning to train in the morning.

I did go in mornings but that was when I did 1 bodypart a session. Now do half my body in a session and its too much lifting for early morning I find

Went to the gym yesterday for the first time in years. 10 mins on rowing machine, 10 mins on jogging, 6 lengths of pool and 10 mins in steam room. I do use the pool occasionally so not a complete slob.

Thought I might be a bit self conscious around the gym bunnies - nah - all fine. I might just keep it up and get fit.
