Why do people want to become "friends" with other people with whom they share few interests; that they have never messaged, let alone met and do not even have any "friends only" photos?

We have been receiving lots and lots of friend invites recently from people we have never even spoken to 
I figured it was just to look at the friends pics.
But I'm not sure what the motive is when there aren't any pics to check out

I have 3 friends here. I get on well with them. I don't want anymore, to be honest.
I don't send friend requests, rarely accept them either.
I'm just here for the serious amount of sex that's on tap. |

We get daily friend requests from people that wouldn't even say hello.
We just leave them there, they can't send another that way.
It's the same with the mails saying "in ur area today, want to meet up for fun". People that have never chatted to us before thinking I'm gonna just run out the door to give them a quick seeing to  even though we say in our profile that's not how we do things.
Just chancers trying their luck.
