Will it be Aye or Nay?
Jump to: Newest in thread
Great to see so many young people voting, a yes vote will give all of today's youth hope for the future as they will see they can influence and change the dynamics of state politics in Ireland. Sadly though I think the church has once again shown intolerance and an inability to separate church canon law which applies to its members and the civil laws of the state which apply to all. Gone are the days ( I hope) when the church can scaremonger the electorate. There are areas of the world where Christianity is in the minority and discrimination against it is rife. You'd think in this day and age the church would be able to lead by example...respect for all. |

An Irish father was asked on Australian tv what he thought of same sex marriages. His reply was amazing " ya I'd be a supporter of same sex marriages, sure I've been having the same sex with the wife for the last 30 years" |

Just maybe the Irish electorate especially the youth have been energised which can only be a good thing especially in what is considered a general election year. |

Pity you for having a pain in your face. I hope you pain eases soon.
I hope the pain of our fellow gay country men and women will ease tomorrow too. |

Join the club! That's two nights now with fcuk all sleep. Next week normality will resume service, with a bit of luck.
It's been an emotional couple of weeks to say the least. Hopefully it'll be worth it today. |

It's a very strange feeling because I feel so strongly about this because i have several family members who are gay and lesbian ..... However as a bisexual woman we have to step outside the norm secretly all the time I wonder if we will ever be openly accepted |

"I was really surprised at the amount of my friends though who voted no! And could give no explanation for it"
From my conversations yesterday with people who voted no had little understanding and a felt there was a hidden agenda. In fairness the change in the constitution should be clearly stated and debated, so I think the government didn't do a more profound insight which left an opening for the no campaign to bring in children and family issues.
I for one didn't receive the information pack that was.to Be posted to all households. |
