Hey Everyone,
I’m doing a fundraising event for charity!
I am going out to cycle 1400km in 14 days on the Cycle against Suicide.
I have lost a number of friends and family to suicide in the last few years so its a cause and message that i believe needs to get out there.
As i work for myself i can't take the time off to do the official cycle every day, so on the days i can't make the official cycle i will do the distance on my own before and around work.
I would very much appreciate your support in helping me to raise funds for the Charity. I have created a fundraising page on www.mycharity.ie.
www.mycharity.ie/event/sean_fab_cycles_event.
You can sponsor me via credit or debit card.
Rest assured that your transaction on the mycharity.ie website is very secure.
You will automatically receive an e-mail from me thanking you for your support, and acknowledging the amount of your donation. Any donation you can make, no matter how small, will be hugely appreciated!
Many thanks in advance for your support,
Sean |

Hi sean, I do a little bit of cycling and I know this is a huge task and one you deserve a lot of credit for taking it on. I have done the hell and back and a few other small challenges for pieta house after getting there help to keep a friend going. Any organisation providing such a service needs guys like you to help. Fair play, I only gave a fiver but I hope you reach your target. Mark |

So 4 days and just over 426km done and at least the weather has got a bit better.
Heading towards the kingdom this weekend so i'm sure the hills will hurt some of the riders.
Thanks for all that have supported me and if anyone has a couple of euro they can throw towards the charity i would appreciate it.

Thanks for your kind words.
Yesterday was tough for me for a number of reasons but it's how we deal with it that's important.
Today is a new day and I'm good to go. Am looking forward to the hills in Kerry thought I'm not sure many others are but I will do my bit to get people over them.
If anyone has a couple of euro spare pleeeeeeeease throw it at my charity page.
Remember that " it's ok not to feel ok, and it's absolutely ok to ask for help"
Am off to sign on for the next stage and may you all have a good Sunday. |

Day 8 done.
Molls gap well and truly ridden and ridden hard.
Leaving the official cycle today so mileage on my own for the next 3 days before I pick up the cycle again on Friday for the last 3 days.
Met an amazing woman today doing the cycle in the memory of her husband who she lots to cancer and to her son who took his own life over Christmas.
Watching her push herself up the hills of Kerry brought me to tears and admiration for her courage and dedication to her family.
If someone pops into your head please drop them a text. That text could be the little thing that saves someones life. Sometimes people are afraid to ask for help and they just need someone to listen.
Sometimes it's the little things that make the difference.
On the bus back to Dublin and looking forward to getting into my own bed.
Hope you all had a great weekend.
Sean. |

You can donate anything from €2 and you dont have to leave your name if you dont want too.
I appreciate people support. I hope to raise between here and real life a figure close as i can to €4000.00 and i'm at about 3.5k at the moment so your donations are greatly appreciated.

So Day 10 and I inch closer to the 1000km mark and to be honest i have been feeling it the last couple of days.
I find the solo rides on my own much harder than i thought i would. It's something that i usually enjoy when i get out on my own at the weekends but somehow this feels different. I'm not sure if its beacuse its one day straight after another or because im just tired. The wind and rain has not helped but its a bit like life its something i have to deal with.
Its much easier to have someone with you and i suppose its the same in life. Someone there to listen and encourage or someone you can just hide from the wind and the rain behind for a little bit just to catch your breath.
When i started this 10 days ago i didnt know how i would feel. Having heard some of the stories from people i have been fortunate enough to meet in the last 10 days i see that i am not really any different to anyone else.
I too have been directly affected by loosing someone to suicide and its something i hope people wont have to go through. We loose twice as many to suicide as die on the roads every year but yet we dont talk about it.
If someone out there reads this and is in a dark place please drop me a message. I will send on my mobile number to you and you can contact me if you need an ear to listen.
Most of you will be thankfull that i only have another 4 days of this to go and you wont have to listen to my ramblings anymore, but if i can do nothing else to encourage a conversation around mental health then i will have achieved something.
It's ok not to be ok and its totally ok to ask for help.
Thanks for listening.

Day 11 done... 1123km behind me and only 300 or so ahead..
I join up with the main cycle again on Saturday morning so only one more solo day to go.
So yayyyyyyyyyyyyy It's almost over!!!
Time to feed myself as I'm famished .. I think an 18 inch pizza on the menu for Sunday night when I get home..
Still a couple of days on the charity page if you find a couple of spare euro in your pocket over the weekend.
Cheers.

I was out for a cycle in the lashing rain this morning, covered 40k and it was awful weather to be out in. I thought of you and it didn't seem so bad. When I get in from work tonight I'm sponsoring you again. The price of a pint and a packet of peanuts is the least fabbers can send your way. Fair play Sean and well done |

You have already done it once so dont be worried about doing it again.
Enjoy your weekend

And so it's done.
Rode into town today in a sea of orange from mullingar.
They closed the quays in Dublin to let us cycle through to rte in donnybrook.
It's been 14 days.
1461km.
80+ hrs in the saddle.
I'm 5kg lighter than I was a fortnight ago. Am tired but my body and mind is stronger.
It's been a journey for me both physically and mentally and when I left all those new friends today and headed back into the wind heading for home I knew that in some way I had played a small part in spreading the message.
It's ok not to be ok and it's absolutely ok to ask for help.
To those that have sponsored me I thankyou for your support.
To those that sent me texts and emails you helped in your own way at the times I was finding it harder.
I sit here in a tired body, but I am happy inside my own head.
Stay safe out there, be strong and keep an eye out for those you know may be struggling.
Sean. |

Thanks everyone for your kind words.
We even made the Six one news and the 9 o'clock news last night.
Was some sight cycling down the quays in Dublin with people clapping, cheering and recording us.
Just for a few minutes we stopped traffic in Dublin in a sea of orange, trying to spread our message.
Shoulder to shoulder we will break the chain of Suicide..
Felt a bit weird this morning not getting into the lycra. Will have to find some other distraction now ....lol
