Ok people!

Been out campaigning asking people to vote YES in the May referendum for equality,I'm very surprised with so many mixed reactions, from a definate YES to a NO fecking way!

Then we appeal to the mabyes, the people still trying to decide, just wondering have you decided?

And if you have young adults in your house please urge them to go and get registered everyone deserve EQUALITY...

A girl in work very wisely said "if you don't vote it's as good as a no vote" it's so important to have a yes vote passed

Same. It's this kind of referendum that all the auld wans will come out in force for to 'save the sanctity of marriage"

I will definitely both yes, as will all but one person I've spoken to about it.

People will say yes if asked so as not to offend the PC crowd, but there will still be a substantial no vote when it comes to the crunch

We're hoping it gets passed but it'll be a close call for sure. We've seen a different side to people when we mention the referendum. We get a feeling that everyone loves the gays but sure theye've enough rights as it is. Mention the word marriage and some people (straight) get a little defensive about it.

If it passes we'll give lolli & laid a run for their money

It's positive from very young and despite what some people think the elderly support has been super too!

Mary McAleese was spot on when she said that this referendum is for the next generation. It'd be great if we could get married but it's not the end of the world if we don't. Though we'd seriously have to consider our place in this society if it doesn't pass.

For the next generation to live their life and have their place in society protected by law would be a huge step forward for Ireland.

I find it hard to understand our age group with children not fighting hard for this because, ultimately, it's those children that are gonna be the winners or losers here.

Honestly they deserve their place in society,it's ridiculous to think they aren't entitled to live as equals!

A elderly lady put it so well when she said it's like the black people in America in the 50's and their fight for equality!

It's time to fight and give EVERYONE equal rights!!!

I'd like to say thank you to the OP and others for taking a proactive approach in canvassing for a YES vote. The right to marry should be open to all adult citizens of the State should the marrying couple be of same gender or opposite. Please vote YES and ask your friends and family to do so too. It means a lot....thanks.

I think the RingYourGranny campaign is perfect for this.

Its this mature age group that usually makes a differance in referendums here, because they are the age group that actually goes and votes every time.

It would be a yes from both of us if we could vote (which we can't, not being Irish citizens). If you're not sure look at checktheregister.ie and it'll tell you if you're registeres and what elections you are allowed to vote in.

It will pass, trust me. I've being canvassing too. It's great to meet some really progressive elderly people.

The younger generation are going to get out in force for this one. You see, they see gay people the way they should be seen. As people.

The same here guys...

Like I said earlier it's 40 to 50 age group I'm most surprised with, the young people are all for it,but some think they can just stroll in with their age cards and vote!

The older generation they have seen so much shite between women equality and and the race movement a large majority say they will vote yes...

It's the 40/50 age group are so undecided

its ridiculous that we even have to vote on it. it should be an automatic right. I don't believe in marriage but I think anyone that does shouldn't have to ask the rest of the country for permission to solidify a relationship in the eyes of the law and the bloody church should keep its nose out of it

A referendum is unnecessary the government could legislate for it but has decided not to....there's nothing in the constitution to prevent same sex marriage. The government TD's are very much taking a back seat with little to no door to door canvassing nationally. I suspect there will be a low turnout so every vote will count....good intentions will mean nothing if people don't actually vote come polling day. Please vote and encourage your family and friends to do likewise...let's put Ireland centre stage and show the world that Ireland has left the shackles of homophobia behind us.
