Well done and fair play to you...

There is help out there for people they just don't realise it, they don't realise their worth and how much pain it will cause the people they love by doing it..

Suicide is becoming more talked about these days and the amount if help out there is great.

I myself and family have been hit and left in pain because of suicide and it's for that reason I'm doing a skydive tomorrow (Saturday) to raise awareness for suicide.

I am so happy you were there to help this person again Well Done xx

Naas

A huge congrats to you. This is a lovely thing. We are all touched by this, be it friends, family, acquaintances.

As much as I want to rant about the egotistical nature of this place I won't, for what you have done deserves the greatest of credit.

I've been there it's not easy.

Im not that bad this time it depression is a debilitating illness and people who've never had it sometimes don't understand

Today our family bury a truly special person who couldn't stay here any more.

I presume OP your thread was supposed to make everyone aware of depression etc but to be honest it reads like a self gratification thread.

And tbh I find it so bloody offensive today so forgive me while I rant. I might perhaps look back in a few days and say I was a little over emotional.

Every day people help people with suicidal tendencies. I've watched it lately. More recently I've watched the people who try to assist the family afterwards be it with words or in attempts to recover the body etc.

Never once did I hear someone say; oh im so great because I did this; never once did I hear them wonder why the person did it when they appeared to have everything they needed (as per your post). They did it because they wanted to; because they care not for people to look at them and slap them on the back which is what your post screams of.

You did a good thing; I'm not taking away from that but write a post about a topic without wording it like a thank you speech for an award.

Like I said I might regret this post in a few days,if I do I do

Hugs for your sad loss

I felt and thought the same when I read the thread so your not on your own.

Yes awareness is needed but without "look at me and what I did"

Something similar happened me a few months back,

After a night out we were walking home, noticed some guy crying at the side of a bridge.. stopped to see of he was okay and he made a jump for the rail..

Me and one of the lads held his legs n waist until the guards came along to bring him home so he was okay..

but it was proper scary shit :/

I wont say well done. Instead I'll say I know what its like to feel such good feelings helping people and I hope you get to help more people in your life, and hope you keep doing good things.

(i find "pat-on-the-back-brigade" so condescending, and normally dont accept it well myself)

Is that how you saved the person? telling them to lighten up too? How did you save them? Are you sure they had everything to live for and are not a bad person like a rapist or pedophile?

You say you don't want claps, but then complain when someone boos?

Did you have to put yourself in pyshical danger? Did you have to do anything a normal empathic person would have done? Did you have a flight or fight response?

Please answer as soon as possible.

My town

Op who are you referring to as "wonder woman "

Don't get me wrong I do believe it's great when you have saved someone life. But I guess the subject of depression to some is a delicate subject. Only in December I knew someone I was close too; lost there will to live too. And believe me many was saying that word we all use "if only "....

I'll brush you with whatever brush I want.

I have saved many people, usually from others. I have saved them from being mugged, beatean, raped, murdered, and that was before I got a job where I was constantly putting myself in danger to help others.

So don't brush me with your negative comments saying I dont think saving someones life is good, keep that brush for other people.

Posts like this will always cause reactions, good and bad. Bad timing for the ones who have funerals to attend and for those who have witnessed and suffered depression. To be honest, if feelings are raw you are best to stay away and focus on what you are dealing with. That for me would be a matter of respect also.

You did a good thing, you should feel pleased that you helped someone. Hopefully that's not the end of it. If you help one person in your lifetime you will achieve more than most

Think ye need to go away from this thread...emotions are running high and comments passed are getting our of hand .....don't think the op was looking for anyone to throw any kind of celebration ...and respect to anyone who has to risk their life's on a daily basis ...but everyone has probably been effected by this at some stage and unfortunately can't always be saved ...so let's put this one to bed and enjoy what time we all have
