What's your best valentines present you got.
On valentines day I found out I was pregnant.
This morning I had a argument with my oldest daughter.
She storms down the stairs with a card saying happy mothers day mum.
Saying ' I was going to give you that on valentines day but you can forget it"
made me think do we buy presents cause we want too
or do we buy presents cause we be in the dog house if we don't.
Are we really romantics
or just better get him-her something.

I'd rather a tiny, thoughtful gift on a random day just because they wanted to rather than a grand gesture present on a day they feel they have to do it. It's the little things. |

I love to buy presents to see the other persons face light up.I think its the thought that is important.
Here's the  story now
I have never received a spontaneous present from my husband...never. Not at Christmas not valentines not birthday nothing ..he maintains that you are forced to buy things for people on those days when really its not necessary.
Its not something I ever agreed with but behind the meanness there us a point. We are encouraged to buy gifts because everyone else is getting one or wants one. Me on the other hand I buy because I love the joy that the other person gets |

I hate the buying of gifts, but the feeling you get when someone's face lights up is better than anything else.
Much as I prefer giving, I hope I make people who give me a gift feel this way too.  |

Best vday present i had was in 2007 i found out i was pregnant .
Second was getting engaged ..
been single for 2 vdays now . My sons have been saving their moneys to buy stuff to make presents ..and make stuff in school |

I found out I was pregnant valentines 2006 after I found out half an hour later I got sent flowers. He at the time did not know I was pregnant or even had a idea I could be.
I tell my daughter the story now
And she says on this day you knew I was in your belly.  |

I was married for twemty years to a man who basically wooed me married me and then promptly forgot all about me . In all those years I never received a carda gift or even a token . I used to lie to family and friends when asked what I got for birthday xmas valentines on birth of children etc . I am now divorced happy and would never accept that treatment from a man again . I agree Iitsthe thought or lack of it that counts . So if you have someone special in your life put a bit of thought into a small token of appreciation for them to show they rock your world . |

If you need a named day by some card company to buy flowers, leave a love-note, tell your partner what they mean to you, make them a romantic meal or do something special, you're in the wrong game.

I think these days Valentine day is more commercial than it should be..actually Xmas too.. But still I always have small presents to house mates (as I don't have bf) and its so nice get something, even if its small chocolate box or flowers  |

In the past with my ex I was told I had a choice, because my birthday is the day before Valentine's day, it was my choice either a Valentine card or Birthday card, never both  and the card is all I'd get.
Now, Niall doesn't do cards,but he is a romantic at heart and will always find a way to make both days special.
Our 1st Valentine's he booked a stunning hotel and spoiled me rotten for the weekend.
For me it's not so much the gifts, cards. It's how special ur made feel, that's the most romantic gift ever

To me I feel there's too much pressure on Valentines Day to get the most impressive and expensive gift....It's not necessary..
I'm big into the cards myself!! A single rose is more romantic than a bouquet of roses/flowers!! I single rose just melts me!  I love romance but it's usually me who cooks a nice meal and I'd have candles lighting everywhere!!
I received a teddy bear in the post over 20 years ago with hugs & kisses on it - to this day I don't know who sent it to me... |
