I'm heading to Limerick for the first time at some point soon - any suggestions for a nice hotel, places for dinner / drinks etc? Or anywhere to go for a walk?
I wont be there for long but should have an afternoon and a couple of evenings free. |

If u arent wanting to spend a fortune on taxis I'd recommend the clarion on steamboat Quay. Most rooms have beautiful views of the shannon and there are several tasty restaurant's along the river if u want to take a short five minute walk. One in particular for a nice meal at night would be the glasshouse. If its just for lunch or something light then perhaps le chocolat on o'connell street or my own favourite is just off cruises street, at the bottom of the hill, paparazzi. If u are there on a saturday morning a walk around the milk market is a must but its a 10am at the latest recommendation lol.
If its a walk to clear the cobwebs u need head across the bridge visible from the clarion and on the far side u can walk down to the river and walk along the banks for a distance. Hope this helps and enjoy ur time in limerick |

There is a social coming up check out the fourm thread for it may fit in to ur diary great night out some like minded people
Loads of restaurants around the city center for a relaxing meal
The Hamptons is lovely and revisited the jasmine palace lately good Chinese restaurant
Check out the pro12 calendar u may get lucky and catch a game in thomond park

Well chap lived in limerick most of my life if you want pm Me with interests and I can tell you what would suit ,
Generally speaking hotel wise clarion is good can be pricey there are some smaller hotels dotted in the city centre such as the Perry hotel reasonably priced also food wise maybe check out poppadom in the market square great Indian food if you like that sort of thing it's also based around the best pubs and clubs in the city.

The Savoy Hotel is very centrally located and every thing is within walking distance.
Pubs, we have loads including Nancy Blakes, Flannery's in Catherine St., Tom Collins etc..
Restaurants that I recommend are Bella Italia, The Cornstore, Hamptons, Jasmine Palace, Texas Steakout are all lovely.

Agree clarion is good. Strand hotel also.They have nice views of the river and both have a 2.5 mile circuit to walk by the river. The George is right in the centre of town. Restaurants Hamptons, Freddies Bistro, azur, cornstore. jasmine palace. Pubs. Flannerys on cathrine st, shannon st or denmark st. Nancy blakes, the Locke. I could say a lot of these pubs are rugby pubs but then every pub in limerick is a rugby pub!! Dolans on the Dock road is good for music and live gigs. |
