unless the guy is being disruptive to others or getting too d*unk to make his own way home there is not a lot you can do.

it is a public house and he has the same rights as anyone to be there

I had the same problem in the past I work in an off licence and it's really down to you if you really believe it's hurting him you need to take a stand.

I was a bar maid for years and one family asked us not to serve a particular customer as she has been hospitalised a couple of times due to her illness (alcoholism) I chose not to serve her as I couldn't have it on my conscience

From working in both the bar industry and the gambling one for over 15 years the only thing I will say is you have to detach yourself from your conscience because at the end of the day your just doing a job

I wouldn't agree with that kitty, alcohol should be sold responsibly, you should lose your licence if you serve ppl til they can't stand up.or in that guys case til he's falling out of his wheel chair

the fact the guys family asked for him not to be served and he refused just shows what a hungry prick he is.i hope he closes like the thousands of pubs closing around the country.good riddence to them

Have to agree here, it makes sense! If the family asked that he not be served, they should be respected.

People use that term "just doing my job" as some of amnesty.

"just doing your job" is wrecking homes and peoples lives.

Now I'm not saying you're doing that personally but sometimes just doing your job is doing exactly that so u have to consider peoples lives before your job sometimes

Is this guy's identity at risk if being breached .. We know the general area of where the 'bar tender works. '

That he is an alcoholic in a wheelchair and has a Sister ....

Stop bringing other people's lives into swing ... It's a complete breach of their privacy ...

It is illegal to serve someone when they are d*unk.

A bar person can refuse to serve anyone - although could be in trouble later if found to have refused on racial grounds.

His family are probably acting in his best interests

No one has said anyone is forcing him to drink but the worst thing u can give an alcoholic is drink surely ?

His family have asked the bar to stop serving him alcohol as it will clearly help him

I don't get what point you're making?

It's not the barmans fault the guy is an alco but he also has a duty of care if the drinker is at risk?

Mall good gambling company's have places set up for addicts

Pubs don't so it's usually the family who intervene

Parts Unknown

You need to talk to the sister again. Make it clear that you are only doing your job and that you're not trying to intentionally upset anyone. If she was worried about her brother she should tackle him directly herself and not rely on others to help her avoid solving the issue

Really! This is not different than posting of Facebook or any other social media, sure you can say you breaching his privacy but isn't good old gossiping without the need of Internet at the same level? Also this is a forum where many topics are discussed if op want to ask for advice the thread should be about that, nothing else. Besides there are plenty of people that lie about their location no saying op does but you never know for sure. Also if you don't like it don't read it don't give your opinion simple many of us are normal people seeking or own fun and don't mean to cause hassle or harm to anyone so if the man wants advice give it to him.
