Hi there, i am no Adonis myself but I have noticed, sometimes to my disappointment, that the appearance of an athletic body on a man is vastly different than on most ladies.
A lot of men who have a larger body size, describe themselves as athletic, but look like they're over due a wee jog or two. What is an athletic build? |

I would consider athletic to be in good shape, not necessarily six packs and sculpted but not to have much wobbly around the middle
Interpreting body type is a very difficult one, and I think it's a personal choice. Same applies for women ...... Who decides where average becomes curvy and so on.
I think as long as we can be confident in our own skin then that's a very sexy trait

"I would think well defined abs ,toned arms and legs ,pert bottom ,oh I'm getting carried away lol"
Hmmmm and u have me thinking now as well goldie, those broad strong shoulders that send a shiver through u as u run ur hands over them and down to a solid slab of a chest then around and down to a solid ass that makes a girl whimper and grind herself wantonly against her man letting him know she is wanting what he's got |

A weightlifter is an athlete but does he look like an bodybuilder? A 100m sprinter is an athlete but he also looks not like an bodybuilder...? |

Speaking as a straight gym-head i think the OP is a bit hard on himself when describing himself as 'average' in his profile. He actually looks in better than average condition. Maybe not 'athletic' but somewhere better than 'average'. Sporty? Built? In-shape?
Maybe we need some new terms for mens profiles. |

aaa stop will ya! ! Was trying to work !... Now my mind running away with me
hard to know tbh...I think its someone who is reasonably toned and fit? ... Would love it to be as above but definitely seen a few that don't really strike me as being how they describe themselves .
mind you I can never decide if I'm curvy or average either so it is hard to know. |

I put myself as slim, although hoping that with some more workout could change to athletic.
If there are pics attached to profiles, I wouldn't care if people put athletic/ curvy, or whatever, as one could see through the pics if the body build is attractive to them.
I think athletic should be used when the muscles are visibly defined and you can see that the owner of that body spends time taking a very good car of herself/himself. If you are not regularly exercising and making your muscles to be strong, visible and without a layer of fat on them, there is no need to be overoptimistic and describe your body as athletic...
And curvy should be used when the body shape is curvy through the bone structure or body structure (bigger bum and larger boobies), not when it is bigger through having extra kilos everywhere (which makes the bum and boobies bigger too naturally).
This is simply my opinion and I am sure there are plenty that would define these categories differently.

Good question, depending on mood and spare time I go from what some might call athletic to a bit floppy around the edges in the space of a month. As long as I eat well and feel good I don't label myself, I get various name's lobbed at me as it is |

I don't have a six pack. I can run a half marathon in less than 90 minutes comfortably. That's and athletic pursuit. Therefore my body must be athletic? ? |

And sickening. Jealous that someone looks so good as both a man and dressed as a woman |

Bloke on the cover of Mens Health = athletic
bloke on the cover of Runners World = athlete.
Not that i think thats fair but its probably the common acceptance.
Anyways you must be fairly fit as it stands so slim or althletic is hardly going to be a quibble. The OP was basically saying 'can you fat bastards stop saying youre athletic' which i doubt applies to you. |

You shouldn't worry about whether you have an athletic body or whether you're curvier than others as long as you're happy with your own body and healthy. I train people who have much more muscle and toned bodies than me but could never run a marathon like the last guy who I trained who is 5 stone overweight and still completed his 11th marathon last month. That guy is the guy who can probably go for hours in the sack get fit, healthy and happy first, what ever results you want after that will follow |
