So agree. We all, well many of us, are good at giving a compliment accompanied with a jibe/slag and if you don't understand the humour you could view it as an insult. It's a cultural thing that only someone immersed in the culture would understand.

I know what you mean but quite a few people take things to heart, and there are a huge amount of misunderstandings where people think they're being insulted when to some of us they're clearly not being insulted. Can you imagine the chaos if that person was the Irish mod? I think it works fine as it is.

I agree to a certain extent... But if you are a mod and active on the Irish swinging scene it could lead to bad feelings at meet and greets parties e.t.c.

You're quite right about that. I regularly offend people but haven't been banned in a long long time. I don't know how an Irish mod would be any better. We have a thing for begrudgery so it might get even worse.

Lol, I get plenty of mail telling me what to do with myself, although I'm not sure if all those things are actually legal or even possible. I don't take offence easily and have no particular problem with being insulted. Not everyone is the same though. Some can't see the humour in humorous posts, and some hide insults in "humorous" posts. I'm not convinced that the mods here cause any major problems.

to be honest Im a bit baffled as to what these problems are everyone is referring to that requires a change in mods, I've been on this site for 5 years and never found the forums to be that unfair, I've been banned myself several times, learnt from it and moved on, if people are getting bans they more than likely deserve them for breaking forum rules.

Yeah but I remember two lads in particular who used to come on here and insult people left right and centre, but they always put a at the end. That was bad enough but the insults and threats spread by pm and the lies that were told to others were far worse. When one of them was banned there was a campaign to have him reinstated as "sure it was only a bit of banter". I'd be guessing that the campaigners didn't have to deal with the abuse and the threats. My point is that it may look harmless to you and me but it may not look harmless to whoever is on the receiving end. I'm not even sure what the relevance of that is, but fuck it, I've said it now. I don't mean "butt fuck it" just in case there's any doubt.

I can see there seems to be a lot of people missing of late. ...for whatever reason. ,,. But it would be much better if the forum was not able to be viewed by the whole of society and only by site members. ..I dont know if warnings or last chances are given to posters but it would be fair...I don't think that an irish mod would be better though as many irish don't get the humour either....

I see the forum as a 1 dimensional plane, just because I don't get someone's humour doesn't mean I can't chat to them over a drink. I may be able to have great craic on here with someone yet find myself struggling to hold a face to face conversation with them. Don't look too deeply, it's a puddle.

"That's what admin block button is forcreeps like the 1 your talking about

admin have been more than fair and reasonable with my bans,i prob shud have been banned more. So i doubt there is a mod handing out bans for little reason.you just don't know them.or should you"

As far as I know mods don't do the banning. Its admins job to do bans. As for an Irish forum mod? Wouldn't work due to bad blood among many on here.

As for bans themselves if you actually read the rules and avoid getting carried away insulting people or breaking said rules you won't get banned.

think things are perfect as it is, like people get banned for their own reasons it all happens to us all at some stage so i say feck it no need for a "mod"

"Michael I personally love your humour,it's witty sarcastic and really funny, but another person sees it a cocky or abrupt or something completely different,We need a couple of mods but lots of us know each other too!

You're quite right about that. I regularly offend people but haven't been banned in a long long time. I don't know how an Irish mod would be any better. We have a thing for begrudgery so it might get even worse.

Well I can tell you often in conversation I'd mention I think your gas and great fun and I know once or twice the answers I got weren't favourable

I'm not saying there are major problems but a couple of live wires most of them getting crossed

Never believe everything your told Michael there's always 2 sides to every story..

Lol, I was one of the recipients of said threats/abuse. There were others as well.

Well I think that's what the block button is for lol

Iv had it myself from certain guys an girls but I'm adult enough to move on from it an use the block button also "

One of these guys had at least ten different profiles. I don't mind that though, what I don't like are the sly digs at someone else's expense, and again, I'm not complaining about me being insulted. An Irish mod would probably never have banned them as the were just "Havin' the craic"

I will agree with you things can go too far..but...not everything is insulting or sly digs..

This is the issue how do the mods know what banter an humour is or what is an actual insult or dig..been it English or irish..

I think there should be a pre warning..like cards 3 lives an your out lol

That way it's given someone to explain themselves not get an automatic ban..and it's not about talking themselves out of it but they may have ment it different an was taking out of context..

Agree with ya there Frosty...

I have to say too up to recently a guy here was hassling a girl who wouldn't meet him,he never "broke the rules" as such on the forum but sly remarks and annoying digs almost drove the person to leave fab, that's in itself a terrible form of bullying and yet no mod knew about it or acted on it!

All this talk about an Irish mod, but no one rushing to put their name forward! Methinks it would be similar to being a traffic warden in my home town

Forum Mod

O o O oo

No one gets banned for banter.

They do however get banned for breaking rules, and if they then break rules again and again they get banned permanently by Admin.

Blaming the mods for people breaking rules is not fair...if people stick to the rules that Admin set and there will be no bans

IF however you think a ban was wrong then use the contact button to ask Admin to review. If you don't hear from then you should accept they think the ban is right. If they think a mod has got it wrong they will let you know and lift it.
