I know this topic has been covered numerous times but here goes....
Had a horrible experience with Facebook /Fab this year.
I do not give out my details.
Cracked down on security and settings etc
However when I go into Suggested Friends - there are swingers there all of a sudden? People who's number I no longer have as I got a new phone and I no longer have my own number linked to Facebook
Does anyone have any suggestions or explanation?
Bit baffled here! |

If you have the friends who are swingers or on here they could be friended by people from here and maybe that's why you are getting these people as suggested friends |

Hmmmm definitely makes no sense. If you have a facebook app on your phone it could be reading numbers from your phone or sim. The information facebook get from PCs and phones is unreal |

Happened here too. And its not that I emailed people from here. Mind you these modern phones. Sync stuff from accounts. Do you have whatsapp? Because i do and whatsapp a few on here. Maybe that, although I cant see, cant remember if we use just our phone number or email to sign up for it... |

Have you ever looked at their Facebook page?
I've had someone pop up on suggested friends but not from here
I think it might have been people who have either looked at your page or you have looked at theirs

I have noticed this recently also!!! I know facebook changed there cookies and all that, and if you are logged on a computer to facebook, they can see the other sites you go on, i.e. fab!!
I keep facebook and fab separate from each other! My fab friends are there and facebook is kept well away from it, but I did notice 3 suggestions on facebook were actually fab friends!!!
It's messed up I think!! I tend to keep on fab on my laptop now and have facebook on my phone, to minimise what facebook are peeking into!!
But only a matter of time when they push for more privacy data to where they will know what we had for dinner!! |

Literally just noticed the exact same thing today!!! Two guys I met off here before I no longer have their numbers on my phone and their pics popped up on my suggested friends and neither of their names were the names they told me!! very very strange, the facebook thing not the fake names! Used to that on here unfortunately!!! Looks like there is no hiding anymore! |

If you access Facebook from a smart phone it checks all the other apps in your phone and cross matches them with other Facebook users. So if you use whatsapp or kik or any other messanger it pulls them from there.
You have agreed to give Facebook access to your contacts, photos, apps, location, your call details and virtually access to everyone that you have any interaction with on your phone.
And it's only going to get worse..
I removed the app from my Android the update before the last one when they looked for extra access when most people either downloaded the update automatically or just hit the accept button.
If you value any privacy don't use Facebook from a smartphone and stick to the pc version.
Stay safe out there.

"Miss pure filth had something up about this exact same thing happening to her a couple of days ago in her status...very worrying!
I'm not on FB so I can't comment personally. ... "
Sometimes people just have mutual friends |

Privacy settings on your Facebook. Set it so only you or friends can look you up using the number/email address linked to your Facebook account.

"Also check your settings in ads section of Facebook and also apps settings in privacy to see who they shared with."
I haven't had the Facebook app on my phone in over 2 years but it still suggests 'people I might know' that it really shouldn't connect me with. It's dodgy as hell. |

I thought I had found the answer, but unfortunately it seems there's nothing you can do. You need to verify your FB account with a phone number.... and that's how it happens. Even though I don't have my number on FB public it still recognised it.
