Catfished...has this ever happened to anyone?

Imagine most people on here have talked to someone who isnt what they say.
At the worst end of the scale i know of one male on another site who pretends to be in a couple to get party invites but 'shes always busy' then lies his balls off at meets about 'meeting with her the next time' to get a fuck. Pretty odious behaviour. |

Apparently there are lots of guys pretending to be ladies on here or couples. And just look at what happened to a local derry City councillor earlier in the year when a journalist posed as a site member.
So it does happen. |

You were watching Dr Phil last night werent you...I seen a brief thing about Cat fishing..then seen the great Pseudo Doc himself was involved and quickly threw my hotel Tv in the jacks.
I didnt get to find out what it actually meant after all that bother. can someone enlighten?..I have images of Rednecks with high powered flash lamps sitting by a pond at 'ridiculous am' for some reason.  |

General term for anyone pretending to be what they arent online, mainly to con another person, generally romantically but certainly the 'fake single females sending each other hot email' in here would be covered.

Everyday!!
They come on so strong and then you try and get info on them/face/phone call etc.... BOOOM they're gone..
As of late with all the Newspaper craic I firmly believe that most of those dodgy profiles are reporters.
I reckon
30% are actually women
40% are men posing as women
30% reporters (as there's been a HUGE rise in new profiles since the stories broke)
I'd love to think most of the new profiles were all genuine women.
It's cliché to say "Go with your gut feeling" that doesn't mean it's accurate however. |

I think I'm being catfished at the moment on another site by some beauty from Canada. She says she's coming to Cork soon and she's looking for someone to hang out with for a few days. It's a bit random to say the least. She asked for my Facebook, should I give to her? |

they all are I recently watched an episode of catfish and some. People generally believe they are in some sort of relationship with basically a phone and a picture.
And goes on for months before there world is turned upside down and it's not the person they thought. |

We get regular messages from a guy posing as a couple, looking to meet us without his "wife". The excuses are always different. At first he was working away from home in Dublin, when we pointed out that his location was Dublin he said he meant Waterford lol then they weren't talking in his next message, and his latest is that she's pregnant lol but throughout all this she's ok with him playing solo... Shocker or wah  |
