I've got a feeling that there are quite a few fabbers who pop onto the forums for a look but are too shy or nervous to join in very much.
Let's make this thread a friendly place for all to come in and say hi........ We don't bite - well not unless we are asked to

Now, what I'm about to say next will be controversial.
The forum has a tendency to be cliquish, there I said it. But a lot of it can be explained away because of the fact that a lot of us have met in person, and can gauge the intent of the posts because we know the posters personality. Some of our lurker friends here don't have that luxury, and it can put people off contributing.
Yes, it's not our fault that a few regular poster may have met for pints, or more and have in jokes and friendly banter. But let's make an effort to include new posters here.
We were all new once and we all know how hard that was.
Let's not be so quick to judge the noobs, I know I might have been in the past.

Hi John.
That was my exact reason for posting this thread. When we joined fab I always read the forums and yes I certainly did feel that there were little cliques on here that I wasn't comfortable just trying to butt into.
As time went on though you do realise exactly what you've just said..... The banter back and over just stems from people meeting and getting to know one another.
What better way to get involved than here in the forums. I believe the chat here leads to lots of friendships being forged and lots of meets being planned.
And, I personally would love to see lots of newbies getting involved here.....

Hi John, when I first started to read the forum I used to think it was a clique,but as I read on I realised that a lot of people do know each other from meeting up,and M&Gs do a great deal to help.i think it's easier when you can put faces to names. Its great that people can even meet up for a drink socially. Mrs J |

yep the more the merrier! I was the same at the start and then became part of the banterville clique lol.. But it's only because we became good friends on and of the site. .. alas I'm a lone bantervillian at the moment but luckily I have lots of other friends from the forums. It's the best way to get a feel for people and then if you go to a m&g is not so daunting as you will meet those you have chatted to. .. The best way tbh. So join in. . Post. . Shout. . Have a bit of banter. . Just like real life only sexier lol |

As time went on though you do realise exactly what you've just said..... The banter back and over just stems from people meeting and getting to know one another.
What better way to get involved than here in the forums. I believe the chat here leads to lots of friendships being forged and lots of meets being planned.
And, I personally would love to see lots of newbies getting involved here.....

i think my total lack of balance and my impressions of a new born giraffe didnt help either lol and yes pavlovas will be done you will have to construct them in cork as i dont thing they would last in the car on the way down |

Some of our lurker friends here don't have that luxury, and it can put people off contributing.
Yes, it's not our fault that a few regular poster may have met for pints, or more and have in jokes and friendly banter. But let's make an effort to include new posters here.
We were all new once and we all know how hard that was.
Let's not be so quick to judge the noobs, I know I might have been in the past.
