Saw a thread on another forum recently and was curious about what the answers would be here.
When you go for a screening do you say if you're a swinger?
I haven't but think I will start |

"Neither have I. Most people who commented on the original thread said they did.
Either way they're going to test you so I just never saw a need"
Same here.. Don't feel they need that info as you get all the tests anyway. |

I've never seen the need to mention it, not out of embarrassment but coz it will make no dif to the results I would have imagined? I have plenty of vanilla friends who have slept with way more guys and been way less cautious so I can't see how being a careful swinger would make any odds! |

not sure it's the same for you guys but here I get it done in my local gp surgery... It's free. . Yep ,HIV etc all done. .. No need to go to a gum clinic..
my gp tries to get all his patients to do it as routinely ie every 6 months etc as you would do any reg health checks like the dentist. He wants to get young people into the way of it so it becomes a natural routine. ..But obviously anyone who is sexually active should be doing it. . Even with playing safe there are still risks . |

Never mention swinging but all the questions regarding 'numbers' of encounters have to be greatly reduced lol.. and always get a female and always want to die of embarrassment when trying to answer the questions truthfully.. and the long walk out back through the waiting room...
I personally think it should be changed to make it more anonymous and more ppl would use it. |

Myself and my partner alternate our testing with the assumption of if I have caught something he probably has too and it allows us to test more often being newbies if we follow the routine to date twice a year for both of us.
Costs are ridiculous tho!! Anyone know of some free sti clinics in Dublin that we could maybe checkout??
Kind of dreading the look from my docter when I attend my next screening. She knows me since I'm a new born!! |

Could be a little more honest with a docter /nurse that doesn't know me so well as far as my clinic knows I have only slept with my husband lol

I haven't but think I will start " I never mentioned it till recently with my last check up. Don't know why I didnt say it before. Service is confidential anyway. Don't know if you get a different check up if they know you're swinging. Dont think so actually. I feel good about saying it. Kinda relieved. |

I recently went to St James's just coz I haven't been checked in donkeys years, they don't need to know the exact details, just tell them that you have been active and unsafe,ie. uncovered oral and tell them that you can't remember how many people (d*unken blackouts is the excuse I used) you've been with and ask for a full screening.I always wear a condom,no matter what and have done for more than 20 yrs,no slip ups but I love to give oral to a woman and swallow.Your there for testing, not to dilly dally around,so make sure that you say that you have been unsafe, hetro,bi or gay,get the full testing.I ended up chatting with the Doc and it turned out we have people in common that we know socially. It's private,so just think of the next person your gonna be with.Do you really want to get a fone call in a month accusing you of giving her a virus or a dose."To thine own self be true". |
