Comdons v bareback

I know I know get the popcorn invite the voulchers... Anyhow.

This is a very controversial thing that maybe many are not that aware of or don't care.

Condoms widely used and whoever doesn't use them is stupid! Or are they? When it comes to sex and meeting strangers surely it's a big contradiction. I would dare to say 99.5% of us would give oral sex without condoms or any barrier to protect us from STIs.

As oral sex is the most common way to contract a STIs, among the most commonly caught through oral sex are:

gonorrhoea

genital herpes

syphilis

But you can get many others like chlamydia, hiv, hepatitis, genital wards (hpv), etc.

So we cover one end to be vulnerable on another.

Bareback: well just plain stupid. Even though you probably not any safer if you use a condom because of issue highlighted about oral. But still you could be call daddy or mammy in 9 months time to which I say no thanks.

Now they are the facts. Now the reality is that many of us when we get a fuck body or someone we meet regularly we dished the condoms, some of don't use them to start with. We are all guilty of it at some point yet we don't openly admit it. Complete double standards right?

Thanks for reading and as always if you don't like it don't comments and pass it by thanks

I think anyone who is sexually active (swinger or not) holds the responsibility to get tested, every time I get tested j ask for a throat swab too, they don't always offer. Also you have to ask for herpes to be tested for aswell as unless you show symptoms they don't test.

Each to their own, if you want to take risks and go bareback etc then you know the risks your taking

Most fabbers I know get tested regulary (at least once every 6 months) that is not to say they do bareback but most are aware of the fact that condoms aren't always effective and the risks from oral sex too

This shouldn't be a popcorn thread, it's common sense - you have sex, you get tested. Simples

Exactly. Who sticks a ding dom on their tongue when licking lady parts? Leave time between each meet to make sure you are clear before moving on.

How many people get tested? Also if you have a infection you treated you go back playing people don't just stay away... Someone said they knew people that had herpes and when they didn't have a break out they would play so.... Testing sure is useful for your own health but not for anyone else's

Apparently no, in fact you are more likely to get somethingor give, if you give oral after brushing your teeth as you can make your gums bleed

Any right minded adult if they tested positive for anything would tell previous partners and then take precautions in the future?

I don't think ur giving much credit to people who look after their sexual health

Or maybe I'm being naive in thinking people are as diligent as I am

Last time I was checked I chatted to the girl in the clinic about herpes as she was telling me that she has it, she said 4 out of 5 are carriers but not everyone will ever have a break out, some people get break outs once a year. She said that's why its not screened for unless it's asked for

Also herpes is a skin to skin contact thing, so you may wear a condom but your genitals still touch which is enough to spread it

Well we aren't that desperate. Would rather know who gave us something than worry about having a string of people to tell.

Regular testing here, it shouldn't be a touchy subject.

I think your statistics are wrong 1 in 4 would be carriers, also there are two types of virus for herpes while both can cause genital herpes is usually type 2 that causes it! Also women are more likely to be carriers and have an active blister non visible then men are.

Ohhhhh here we go. I think their is a sense of naivety here it is a touchy subject for most, most don't get tested and people are not as careful as they say they are. Also if they get tested and they come back positive for something very rarely would they go around publicising the fact as they would straight away get outcasted

I don't know who you are aiming that at, but it's not a touchy subject for anyone I know nor for anyone who has posted on this thread

I've been regularly tested every six months the last 10 years - and not because of sexual health, but for a condition I have with my womb that means they have to constantly rule out sti's, I've always had clear tests because I always take precautions

I don't know why you try turn every thread into an argument vroom, if the purpose of ur thread was the raise awareness then fair play, but don't have a go at people who post on ur threads about the actual topic of discussion

Actually men are more likely to be silent carriers and therefore more dangerous as they may not know they carry it and pass it on unwittingly

Please don't make an statement like that because it is not true firstable. In term of carriers men and women are the same. In fact chances are men will show symptoms before women do as there Penis is very visible, and there are no secretions from a normal Penis while women have them and might confuse it with something else so I'm sorry to tell but your statement is not accurate

It's all about risk management. Testing is good for your own reference only. They can be inaccurate, their are windows where each disease can not be detected and there are false negatives and positives. A false negative is when you get given the all clear despite having enough of the disease in your body to test positive.

Oral, low risk. Inspect for tears or wounds to decrease risk.

Vaginal, high risk for women, medium/high risk for men. Use protection always.

Anal, extreme high risk for both parties. Use protection always.

In vaginal and oral sex the risk is greater for the woman. If the woman wants a condom for oral use it. If you're a guy and into rough oral and want to use one, use one.

Imagine you caught hiv because of that one moment where you just didn't bother, despite knowing all the risks. You'd feel like a twat or the rest of your life.

Very good advice! And fair play. I think people are not as careful as to examine someones mouth, Penis or vagina before having sex. So realistically only a small percentage of people might do it

Lets be honest here ....men are less likely to get themselves checked compared to women ....every guy that has told me they get checked every six months makes me think ...bollocks ....show me the paper work ...there are continually men's health awareness to encourage men to be health aware in general fact ....so you mean to tell me a guy will go to a clinic on his own footing ....doubtful...best just think everyone is not you and play safe

I get a feeling that swingers are more educated in this area and get more frequently tested. Unfortunately in ROI there are not many free STD clinics (as you would get in the North) and I have to agree that probably a lot of people who are sexually active wouldn't pay €125 every 6 months to get tested.

I have used both free clinics and paid ones. The free clinics didn't offer as many services are the paid ones. When I as there a few years ago I asked for a mouth swab and they didn't offer that. I rather pay for it and get the full tests to be honest.

My theory is most women see their gynea regularly as well so a visit to a gynea can be linked with STD tests.

it is a bit of a generalisation.. but yeah, since the gynea is looking at our foo foo at the time anyway and we'd talk about any weird things happening down there, the gynea would know if there is suspected STD (obviously only if there are symptoms)

in my opinion guys are most likely to have themselves screened if they think there is an issue...not as part of their healthcare where as women need to see a doctor for birth control, resulting in them being more in the presence of healthcare professionals and studies show they are more open about health in general ...but in everything there are always exceptions to every rule

I have to say in my opinion men and this is from my experience and reading of similar threads about this subject who swing are every bit as likely to get tested as women within the swinging scene i know i do every six months there is no one responisable for ur health but your self. Weather active or not u should test as something may not rear its ugly head for a few months after ur last meet, and if ur very active test more regular

You both may be right, due to gynea appointments etc, women are possibly more comfortable from a younger age with checks etc.

Oh god another person talking for the sake of talking... Ok so let's say hepatitis A B C and jaundice Are they the same.... Well no they are not. So cold sore, chicken pox, and genital herpes the same.... Well no difference strains of virus in fact there are about 20 or so different strains the ones we commonly know are type 1 oral, type 2 genital, type 3 or chicken pox varicella zoster. Type 4 glandular fever or kissing disease. And I can't remember the rest but you catch my drift not the same thing while I would agree in a statement that says 90% people would get chicken pox I don't think it would apply to genital strain

And I can't remember the rest but you catch my drift not the same thing while I would agree in a statement that says 90% people would get chicken pox I don't think it would apply to genital strain "

But for both the oral and the genital strain unless you have a break out they can't guarantee you don't have it as that what I was told when I asked about getting tested for it as otherwise can throw up a false negative

"I think your statistics are wrong 1 in 4 would be carriers, also there are two types of virus for herpes while both can cause genital herpes is usually type 2 that causes it! Also women are more likely to be carriers and have an active blister non visible then men are.

I Think I'm more likely to believe a doctor who told me this with his medical training as opposed to some randomer on internet

Well I guess a medical science degree accounts for fuck all I supposed when it comes to the Internet you are right! "

Can u prescribe ur self a chill pill with ur degree, u have a very good thread going ddon't ailenate ur audience or participants.

"I think it would be a lot higher than 1 in 4, after all its not always sexually transmitted!

Do you have it? As because if it's

4 out of 5 people that means 4million out of the 5 million people in Ireland have the virus women, men, children

Exactly! Herpes = cold sores! I had one as a newborn baby, passed from someone kissing me and it was on my nose of all places, hardly my fault at the time and definitely not sexual! haven't had one since. Never known anyone I've been with to break out either. Shingles is a form of herpes as is chicken pox.

That's right! Well which is abit of a bitch because if you see the blisters! If it looks like herpes, itches like herpes, smell like herpes then it must be herpes. In other words there is very little point to test for something when you can clearly see you have it. So only again for piece of mind to know exactly what it is and that your vagina or Penis is not gonna fall off.

No I'm not, I just don't think is accurate that's all, men and women have same chances to be silent carriers, while some points are valid that maybe women would get tested more often maybe if that's what he meant he would be right, but men are more likely to show clear symptoms than women because as I explained sometime it can be confused with something else as there are always secretions from a vagina and not a Penis

Well calm then cause to the idle reader it appears like it, u probably have a very good knowlage on this subject but to an account or clerical worker they have to rely on their gp or health advisor

This thread should appear at least once a month to reiterate to experienced swingers the importance of testing and introduce newbies the need to be tested

Also a clarification Shingles=chicken pox exact same virus strain (varicella zoster) as there are no cures for many viruses this one being one of them

It remains dormant at the nerve roots. Usually at later stage in life

Not that it matters, but this is Rea. The two can be compared in that you only know you have it when it breaks out and that's when it's most contagious. That's what I was getting at. It wasn't clear, but it is now!

I suppose we're very lucky up in the North. My gp recommends getting tested every six months just as you do with the dentist. ...cholesterol checks etc as part of a looking after yourself programme. The sti testing is free and done in the surgery so it is really accessible and easy to do. I get it done as routine even though I play safe because there are still risks. It must be much harder for those if cost(€125 is a lot) and having to go to an actual clinic come into it.

The chance of catching HIV through oral sex is very rare. Something like 4/10,000 . Just don't brush your teeth before or soon after. If you have a cut in the mouth avoid it as well. Condoms for intercourse should be de rigour.

On a related topic, hands up what guys are happy they no longer see any point in doing the swab down the inside of the penIs? Thank feck the bloods are seen as sufficient now. Although reading this thread I'm starting to doubt the advice of my clinic. That the same everywhere? On a scale of 1 to 10 I'd say its a two or three discomfort level but still glad they no longer do it
