Older generation are lovely... Younger lads now not so much...

But like anybody I'll always speak and have the crack with them..

Exactly. . just incase folk music and think we're being in any way racist.

I tried explaining to a Spanish team mate of mine what a traveller was... it was tricky. After a few weeks he could pick them out in a crowd. .. and even from the cars they drive.

Lucan

A traveller came to my door and muttered what I thought was "do you want your driveway retarred?"

.

I said no and pointed out that it wasn't tarred at all, that it was paving bricks. When I went out later, my driveway was gone.

A lot of people seem to be intimidated by them...

Back in the old country we call them gypsies, and they are a great craic after you get to know them and all that...

These here though, seem to be a bit more on the violent side and think they are hot shit... Some found out I begged to differ

Certain families think the law of the land isn't for them. It annoys me when the excuse 'traveller way' is used to condone unlawful doing.

I know a lot of settled travelers that hold onto their values and still live within the law of the land and are really nice people.

I grew up in an area surrounded by them some of the nicest people I've met. But there is always gonna be some sour grapes that ruin the name of them. We aall know. Not all are innocent. But there are some genuinely lovely travelers that I've happily sat at the bar and drank with.

One pub told us, because we were young fellas we couldn't drink there without ID. When we produced it he was sickened. He only wanted to get rid of my mate. We got up and left. Can't stand discrimination. Nor would I entertain it.

Crystal was a fashionable wedding gift then and most gifts from travellers were crystal items.

To me it meant that they thought a lot about what they spent and gave as a gift. I appreciated both the thought and the gift.

Lucan

Long story, but I bought a large part for a truck from travellers a few years ago. Six months later I call to a house to price a job. Just as the door opens, a battered Ford Transit rattles by with half a dozen lads piled into the front, the back doors swinging open, panels hanging off it with a wreck of a car being towed behind by means of a fairly hairy looking rope, and another half a dozen lads piled into the car, and every fucker in the car and Van hanging out the window shouting hello to me and beeping the horns.

.

I didn't get that job

Yes childish. And tattooed woman if your willing to be that judgmental I find it quite discriminatory. That is the height of pig ignorance to me. Judging someone on ethnic background, culture race or otherwise is terribly nasty.

Settle it like travellers folks!!!i used to play a game when younger with them called "quits" whoever quit first during a boxing match lost simple!!never underhand tactics just plain oule boxing!!and I remember my mate fighting one and he got the hump after he lost and threw something at the lad and it was worst thing he coulda done his brothers beat him silly lol!!

Grew up with them. Never had any trouble with them. They kinda fancinate me and the way they live, where the women aren't allowed sex before marriage and the women aren't allowed go to the pub without there husband. Stuff like that. I never trust a traveller. One tried to rip me off before but I ended up ripping him off instead cause I can count he can't. I think the calling out videos on you tube are hilarious. Shite in the bucket, the new fella called baldy mcdonagh lol etc. I see traveller's profile on here so maybe someday day there will be a Big Bat FAB gypsy Wedding on channel 4

I've had a few encounters with travellers over the years , they certainly get away with a lot more aggression and intimidation than the common man !

I did know one lad who worked and was a nice guy but if I'm honest I rather not have any dealings with then if I can
