Put away the swords, , this ISN'T an attack on Dyslexic folk

But is it me or are folk getting worse at writing/spelling/grammar etc. ..?

I know some beautiful folk but when texting I HAVEN'T a clue what they're on about!

My town

It's annoying cause the abbreviations are head wrecking with a number thrown into a word like m8t.

Grrrrr frustrating

I agree, but will admit I'm desperate for doing it.. I only do it with words like 'u' or 'ppl'

Call me judgemental but if I see a message or a forum post with a large mount of text speak I immediately disregard that person. It's so unnecessary and had a large stink of uneducated about it.

Predictive text changes words to suit itself therefore messing up full sentences...predictive must be male

I could forgive a wrong word here and there if it meant generally reading proper sentences. Plus when it gets it wrong you usually get a good giggle, I always thought ladies liked a male who could make them laugh

Its no issue to me how folk choose to communicate as long as I can understand it, hell some fella at Castledawson roundabout seemed to be using smoke signals earlier

I just can't be bothered using text speak personally

I have been known to adopt the rory bremner approach to texting whereby I would type the message out long hand including proper pronunciation marks.

I agree standards are slipping and the three r's are no longer relevant.

Ask some teenagers what the three r's are and you will get 'rollies, rohypnol and riots' as the answer

If I can't understand it,then I'm not interested, if that makes me a grammar snob then so be it, can't say I'm too bothered.

Predictive text is the biggest problem, people go to fast and rely on it without checking...now i love a giggle when you get the odd random word in the sentence that completely changes the context...but it gets frustrating after a while.

And as someone said 'bang of uneducated' off it. That is a bit harsh, its a case of choosing that way rather than being incapable.
