Has anyone else noticed the atrocious spelling on this site, I mean big words I can understand but please people board and bored are not the same thing, nor are or and our and don't even get me started on the homophone of there.

I don't think anybody minds dyslexic spelling, it's more the text speak and general mistakes. Like i said, some stuff can be hard to read, but how many people would be actually physically put off by it?

At least your posts are discernible. There are some on here who can't construct a sentence. I have seen whole passages without a capital letter or full-stop. |

We would prefer to meet people who can hold a conversation. Therefore, if a user's writing is difficult to read or has awful spelling then we would not engage with them. If typing short messages is an issue for them, just imagine what chatting in real life will be like. |

Being understood is the main thing though surely? Who cares if people spell phonetically as long as you know what they are on about. It's when it becomes really hard work to understand that it bothers me (and consequently I stop bothering lol). I'm not sure this is the place to fret about the little things "
This is true noirelove. If it is comprehensive then we are cool with that. However if you can't discern where one sentence ends and another begins then it is an issue.
There are two things that bad grammar and spelling indicate to us.
1. The person is either too stupid or too lazy to check the correct spelling.
2. If they are that stupid, we would rather not engage with them.
NOTE: We would like to point out that occasional spelling mistakes are acceptable. We also do not expect the finest prose in all the land. As has been said, make it easy to understand and try to iron out obvious errors. |
