While out doing some shopping Today..
I Witnessed something that made me sick to my stomach, And makes me question what is wrong with society to turn a blind eye to this...
I was dodging along an aisle of aldi, it was packed loads of men, women and kids about, I could hear raised voices and a baby crying, looked around as did every other person only to see an extremely angry man shove a woman up against a fridge, her bag fell he kicked it towards her then shoved her again, and started calling her the most awful names, She asked him to stop cause he was scaring the kids, He then hit her in the stomach and ribs Twice, before demanding money and keys off her... People just walked past as if it wasn't happening... What the hell is wrong with people in today's society to not say something or intervene in some way...
I know what I done and I'm glad I did...
So my question is What would you do??

There is a youtube video about exactly this. Some guys pretended to be attackin a lady to see how many would defend her.
Works out like 5 defended her. And 20 didnt. Or some crazy figure like that.
We all know that abuse happens. Hense why i have encouraged Mrs IC to take up self defence. So myself, wife and even our kids are trained.

i remember from psychology in college some case study. X (lets say 10) amount of women shouted "rape" from an alley and another 10 shouted "fire".. More people ran to help the women shouting fire.
it's disturbing how are society lets these things continually happen. While i might not have physically stepped in i would certainly have gotten help via security or the guards |

I've seen this before guy was walking calling the girl for all the names under the sun. Roaring at heir did go up and just said for him to learn some manners and stop speaking to the girl like that. At which point she started into me and the two of them ended up screaming at me so I left the shop. |

These days, ppl are more concerned about theirselfs and Society has gone in a massive Ego Trip.
it would be easy to say, but i would have gone in between and at least take the pressure of her.

Sadly this is often the case. Too many times men have gone to a woman's aid and been attacked by the woman herself. Not worth the risk for many guys. |

When I first moved into this apt, first weekend I heard the couple upstairs killing each other.
I rang the guards and they asked where I was, told them, they said yeah that this is a regular thing, she turns on them the minute they show up. They weren't willing to send someone round until I insisted, and what they said would happen , did, unfortunately |

Unfortunately as many women today as yesteryear allow this to happen, some women enjoy the humiliation and the bullying and see it as lurve or some other form of affection. I have learnt to not interfere as its a private matter albeit in a public arena. These weak women accept apologies and it won't happen again and defend the assholes
I would have walked on by and pretended I saw nothing as to react gets a reaction usually negative |

Couldn't walk past this situation without at least saying something, its just not right but i would be wary, like itwasme i've stepped in before only to get abuse from the woman along with the man |

It's up to you. We're not all brave. I've been there before and stepped in. There's nothing to me, but I carry myself well. I point out the fact that this kinda behaviour is not acceptable to me. And if it's not acceptable to me, it doesn't happen. No hero, just not willing to be silent either. Just me. That's totally a personal thing. |

I try to intervene yrs ago with my friend and her boyfriend at the time. I told him exactly what I thought of him and, how much of a bully he was. She ended up sticking up for him and would not talk to me for weeks. |

"I was a bit afraid of what the the lady's reaction would be but she was so relieved and thankfull it made my day in a strange kinda way "
That's good my experience wouldn't stop me saying something again. Think it's just a shame that some men think it's ok to act that way. Though I would say it's actually as bad the other way round with women hitting men no one needs to be in a relationship that's abusive |

How can people just ignore this when they clearly hear and see that the attacked person doesn't want this. She overheard her asking him to stop. What more evidence do you need?
Depending on the situation I would either tell the attacker to stop or call security or the guards.
Even if this is a twisted game and they both start shouting abuse at me... you know what? That's ok. That one person which may really need help is worth all the hassle people seem to want to avoid.
I've stepped in a few times when I witnessed domestic violence. Yes, sometimes it got a bit hairy. But I would always do it again. Why? Because when we were abused at home, a lot of people knew of it and did nothing. I asked one of them many year later why? Oh, they wouldn't get involved in personal matters. Fuck sake. |

Well anydody that knows me know I'm not a violent person and I'm really shy..
But after watching that as he went in to punch her in the face I rammed him with my trolley and he fell into the fridge then i told him what a thought of him and picked up the lady's bag as she bust out crying I rang the guards then as he hurled abuse at me... she was shaking behind me and he was spitting and shouting... thankfully the cops weren't too far away |

Good for you!!! (Hugs for you too as I bet it shook you up.)
I'd have to step in if he was hitting her. I'm wary in these situations and tend to hang back and watch to try and figure out the best plan of action. The problem is, someone stepping in may cause her to get an even worse beating when they get home. xx |

I have met many Victims of Domestic Violence... NONE of the, "enjoyed" being humiliated or bullied!!!! They were ground down mentally by their Abusive Partners to believe they deserved to be treated that way! But you know what? They didn't deserve it!!! |

If hubby was there it wouldn't matter his size he would have soon known how it feels on the recieving end.
Seems people are caring less and less |

People dont want to get involved. I helped out a innocent guy one night get a hiding. They were trying to rob his jacket. I pushed him off and try to stop it. Ended up having to hit the trouble maker. But turned out his mates got involved and I took the hiding. As much as people want to intervene I think they cant due to the unexpected. Sad though and I would still intervene even after my experience. Just instinct..... |
