"I'm intending to go and see Jimmy's Hall at some stage. I like an ould true story every now and again. excuse my ignorance but who's Jimmy hall?"
It's the new Ken Loach movie about Jimmy Gralton, the only Irish citizen to be deported in the history of the state. He fell foul of the clergy and Fianna Fáil back in the early thirties, mostly by trying to educate people. |

Was it just wrote for screen or is it based on a book do you know. Id say it would be a good read. |

He did a few years of research himself, from what I know. There were a couple of books about him, but nothing noteworthy. I found two in the past, the best of which was "My Cousin Jimmy" written by his cousin. There really wasn't much appetite for information on him though. He was pretty much a pariah for years. I knew a few people who knew him personally when I was growing up. |

I saw a lovely litle "niche movie" recently called "next goal win's"
It's a documentary about a team called American Samoa who got beaten 36 nil by Australia in the last world cup...
One of their players is transgender....
It,s areally sad and happy film.....about the people of the Island etc....
It is really worth a watch
