K i know this is a swinging site but is anyone else concerned the way this country is goin ffs this country is fukt. Its scary between lack of housing rural robberies medical card disasters fukn sickos abusing kids sorry to b so negative but fuk it i just gave it to canvassars der and it seems like a waste me time |

You would think that after being in recession for such a long time, it would improve at some stage. But I'm still patiently waiting.
what's happening at the moment in Dublin with the housing problem is shocking. Rents have gone up so much, no one can afford them. Landlords are greedier than ever. At this stage I actually hate them all with a passion. Blood suckers!!! |

thanks for that, it doesn't change that I'm not earning suddenly 30% more money to cover the rent. Anyway, greedy people don't give a shit about others. Some people have learned nothing from what has happened in this country.
They're taking complete advantage of people. I just hope that Karma will bite these people in the ass at some stage. |

Rental prices haven't increased by 30% anywhere in Ireland, so if yours has, there's something else at play there. Unless it was already 30% below the market then I'm sure you'll find somewhere a lot cheaper?
Part of the problem is that a lot of landlords got out of the business during the recession as rents dropped dramatically and there was no money to be made. My neighbour is renting a 4 bed semi for €1300 per month, up from €1150 three years ago. In 2006 the rent on the same house was €1450. The mortgage on the house costs the landlord €2700 per month. In forty years time the landlord will be in the money but that's a bit of a wait.

you obviously haven't looked for 1 bedroom apartments in Dublin lately.
Places which were €850 in October are now asking for €1200.
A 2 bedroom apartment I used to live in in 2005 was €1050 and now they're asking €1200 for a 1 bed in the same apartment complex.
Anyway, no need to discuss any further. It doesn't change my situation and won't bring the rents down.
I will have to compromise on food, flying home to my family or whatever this will cost me more in the next few years. While my landlord goes to Asia every 3 months for a holiday.
