If someone seems to know who you are and is threatening to show your pics, profile veris etc that they have copied.... to your husband. .. What do you do? Scared to block them in case I make things worse. .. They know my real name. . But don't use my hubbies even though they reckon they are a good friend. They were cheated on by their wife so why would they let s good friend be made a fool of.. and I should go through the same pain.
Advice please. .. I'm sitting in bed crying and scared |

Reply privately (thread closed by moderator) | |
If it was a text keep it and tell them your going to the police they have to treat it in confidence. It is blackmail because if they were going to do it they wouldn't have told you, they just would have done it. |

Some form of net gain or threat of physical harm or loss of finance has to be invoked before it is blackmail; if they haven't asked for something material in exchange, the police won't be interested. |

If they are "good" friends with your hubby, surely your hubby would have been there for him when his wife cheated I.e having him round for a few beers etc, or at least your hubby would have mentioned that his good friend was breaking up with his wife to you, if either have happened then you will know who it is that sent you the msgs
Tho I think it's just someone on here looking to scare you

seems like there is a pattern developing on this. there have been a few fabbers here who run through the same thing.
it's a shame really. guess it is a rejected person seeking revenge or someone lonely.
I personally do not give my name as such until I've meet someone, no phone numbers etc either.
feel sorry for the peeps who run through this |

If he wasn't 100% sure of her identity, he is now since she just confirmed it for him. If she had denied it, he couldn't prove anything at all. |

The sites help threads might have been a better place for this. |

He knew her real name , how's that not clear?
She has hidden her profile anyway and not everyone read the forums either, she panicked and was quite upset as anybody would in that situation, so she asked for help here , ina situation like that we all react differently |

If someone says they know your name but you deny it then there is no possible way to prove it. |

I get your point, but he had copied pics and info, if that guy really knows her husband and he shows him the pics, well , denying it will not help as i think the husband would definitely recognise her from the pics |

To be fair I think its just to put the shits up.
If he know more info he would surly give that a way.
Ok he may know her name after a few mails of chatting I may give my real name first name on here. |

Non site registered users can read the forums. You don't have to be s member.
I do get what Michael says. It be easy for him
to access the forums and look.
I do get she wants advise. But it could feed off his sick mind by the threats. |

Seriously though, someone claims to know your name but you have doubts, so you start a thread confirming that they have the name right? I'm afraid it doesn't make sense to me. |

Having had a similar thing happen me last year I think I can voice my opinion quite well:
1. Hiding your profile is of no benefit, they ll already have screen shots etc.
2. Starting a thread about is letting them know they've got to you.
3. If they're telling you they're going to do it they won't. They ll instead let u know when they have the damage done.
4. The person who you've met on here and is being your rock to help you get through it all will most likely be the person who is doing it. They see your meeting other people, having a good time etc and they don't like it.
Coming on here as a married person is a massive massive risk. You really have to decide whether your marriage is that awful to risk going through this. |
