Listen. .. I'm not above spelling something incorrectly esp if my predictive text is doing its own thing but. ...
If you're trying to catch a girls eye or get chatting. .... Try not using excessive text talk and spelling things correctly! esp if you're claiming that you are any of the following

in all honesty I had to delete the first message because I spelt something wrong lol  but it's the guys who don't even manage a sentence and not a word spelt correctly or even a word at times. ....I think its my age lol |

If someone messaged me in text talk I'd ignore it. I would like to know the person I meet has some bit of intelligence. I know myself I have awful spelling but thank god for auto correct but text talk is for lazy teenagers. |

totally agree. I'm not perfect myself. We all make simple mistakes but surely with spell check being on.almost everything, it seems to me like it's more of an effort to write in text talk then it is to write properly?  |

I hate text speak,have it on my profile and all, i see some profiles were they use text speak, huge turn off, there are also people who post on forums and they use it too, it drives me insane, would love to say it |

I don't use it text speak myself, but I don't mind if someone uses it for one or two words. So if they use u for you... I can live with it. But if it's so abbreviated that I have to read it a few times to understand it? That's so annoying! |

I hate text type but am sometimes guilty of it but spelling isn't everyone's speciality. Are they not supposed to message people because their spelling isn't good? |

I am not talking about people with dislexia or not able to spell for other reasons, i am talking about chatting to a guy who uses text speak all the time, it feels like i am chatting to a 15 year old and it turns me off, that is my preference |

Not a big fan of hya...hoz yer dy bn....i like things to be spelt correctly...not saying im 100% correct all the time but at least check what you have wrote before you send it...an intelligent message will grab my attention much quicker!! |

I am also dyslexic
Anything I have to hand write takes me forever trying to work out how to write certain letter and some words just totally flummox me altogether
However I have memorised the qwerty keyboard. And I have spell check. It can take me quite a while to compose a text or email still but I make the effort to be understood. And to be honest since the advent of smart phones, predictive text, and electronic correspondence , my life has become a lot easier
I still can't use an phone that doesn't have a qwerty keyboard for texting etc as I don't have a clue where the letters are |

well the whole text speak thing can be a little annoying. But as for spelling and grammar there are alot of people that have dyslexia and other learning difficulties and being one of them i find you comment about spelling quiet harsh would you lambast a chile for spelling mistakes ?? if you dot like the way somebody writes or spells then just ignore them rather than start a thread about it you never know that person might not be able to help it and all you have done now is made them feel bad about them self..

that's a biggie coming from some one as articulate as u it always amazes me the people who u think are gifted with the use of language are the ones who usually have to work hardest at it maybe the rest of us are just a tad lazy or flippant with what comes easy to us ot is supposed to come easy |

Laid and nippy, I'd never have known you were dyslexic as you both have overcome it, and you make an effort. fair play to you both, i'm sure it isn't easy.
However I'm sure there are quite a few who play the dyslexic card when they actually cant be arsed, and never have been since school, and I think thats a bigger insult to your good selves. |

I dont think that is her intent mr laid....no one myself included would ever start a thread insulting anyone who had a learning disability or dyslexic...this is geared at people who cant be bothered...then again i understand that how would we know whether someone is or not...keep an open mind is probably what i will do.... |

My father suffers from dyslexia.
And struggled for yrs.
Its very sad as when he was in school he's was referred to by a num who's was his teacher that he was stupid.
Also he is left handed and got it in the knuckles for than too. |

I have to work out what I want to say and type it spelling away as I go.
Quite often I get stuck and have to try different sentences because it doesn't sound right in my head. I think also because I do have to think about every word I come across as very dry and very uptight and serious I'm none of those things I'd wager that those that have met me would say I'm a pretty fun laid back lass.
And whilst I'd love to have deep and meaningful conversations I can't because many of the words I can now write ( with predictive text and spell check ) I still can't say. ESP words that have a M and a N in them

Text speak is annoying if used in excess I agree, and it is all about preference of course but I agree about the dyslexia issue, maybe best to take that into account first before getting angry about it. |

don't think it was an attack on any person with a learning difficulty rather pointing out that some here cant be arsed to check what they have typed and that's me included some times i post then read rather than read first then post
as i said before those with dyslexia usually double check and with effort actually surpass those of us supposed not affected |

Text speak is just the newest form of communication. Each generation varies written word in some ways. Old written English was lost in the past. Abbreviated forms of words were invented. Our own generation become lax with grammar sentence structure and punctuation. Read most things we write on here and look to see how many punctuation points we leave out. If I can understand it I myself don't mind but that's just me. |

That reminds me of "Not the nine ó clock news" and their song about cunnilingus that the BBC wouldn't allow. Instead they sang a song called "kinda lingers" and slurred the words a little. Good times!
I'm sorry to anyone that takes offence from this, but the use of the word "of" instead of "have" is one that irritates me more than misspelling. Right, that's that off my chest now.  |

I was going to say it's a generational thing, but you're younger than me. In my time in school there was a lot more emphasis on sentence construction, spelling, etc compared to now. |

I write with my left hand and I write from top to bottom.page has to be turned completely sideways.I do most other things with my right hand or both.handy at work being ombidextrous
Text speak can b bugger to undrstand and lazy bit spelling I hav no prob with.once I can understand wat they mean.what more do u need |

Im guilty of doing this.
I would have( originally wrote of..oops) had the same opinion regarding spelling mistakes irratating me, especially using the wrong spelling of a word that sounds the same as another, however, that has been superseded by people, not reading a statement/comment in its entire context. |

But as for spelling and grammar there are alot of people that have dyslexia and other learning difficulties and being one of them i find you comment about spelling quiet harsh would you lambast a chile for spelling mistakes ?? if you dot like the way somebody writes or spells then just ignore them rather than start a thread about it you never know that person might not be able to help it and all you have done now is made them feel bad about them self..

I am dyslexic too which is why like some other people on here I try to check I have written something legible (Thank god for spellcheck..) .I am talking about the people who can spell etc but just can't be bothered and their message is so hard to read that I give up. Loses me a little why some people are so easily offended on here when something clearly wasnt intended to offend anyone |

Anyone who knows you knows your not like that...im guilty of giving off about spelling also...but never thought to think to deeply into it...i will be more understanding now myself...and im sure my spelling isnt great either my pet hate is...text speech...just sounds like slang...and a cant be arsed attitude...each to their own thats what being an individual is all about.... |

Downgirl by reading your op in its entire context I thought it was quite obvious the people you were referring to. Your point was valid and understandable and by no way did I think you were referring to others with dyslexia or writing/reading difficulties.

i dunno,ive only 6 ppl on my blocked list and there ppl tht pissed me off or did sumthing,but if i was chatting to sum one for a while and had a bit of a dissagreement id try sort it out not block them! |

I chat to a person a good bit before i exchange pics, i don't really go by looks, i like chatting and if the guy is funny, nice and kinky and can stimulate my brain the rest follows, not that shallow to look at just one pic and say, no thanks |

I agree with you there, I always try to resolve an argument or disagreement with someone I've chatted a while, whenever possible. Blocking someone before trying to do this is a bit lazy or cowardly. Or maybe they didn't particularly fancy that person anyway so they found an excuse to get rid of them. |

All these experiences, good or bad, made us the people we are today ! Text speak doesn't bother me at all , use some myself at times , cos we gotta remember why we're on here in the first place !!!! Lol......only thing I would say is when I hear people talking "dem " or " dose" things , I do have second thoughts !!!! Lol |
