Is it still the guys job to start a conversation, halfway through the second decade of the 21st century?

Never waited on a guy to ask. If he is doing the asking then I either hadn't noticed him or not interested.

Shyness is not one of my traits

I find that girls still reluctant to start up a conversation, no matter what they say in private, most can not bring themselves to do so, and that is fine, it is acceptable in society, as it has been that way for so long. I have no problem starting up a conversation with a girl I find attractive. I guess it is about confidence with a guy, and with a girl, it is about social "rules", dictating that the guy should be the one to make the first "move", and it is just from the way things have been for centuries!

Once you separate the girl s from the women you will see the difference. Women are more confident in today's world than ever before,

Social rules ? isn't that No burping, farting picking nose in public??

It covers a multitude, as you probably know, and there are some women who, as you say, will start a conversation, but they are in the minority, for sure, I wish it were different, but I can say in the majority of cases, a WOMAN will not start up the conversation. Maybe it is a confidence thing and the fact that "it is not the done thing" syndrome. I do wish it were different. But it never puts me off, if I see someone I like, no matter where, the pub, the car park, the supermarket, wherever, I will start up the conversation!!
