Big brother is almost here.
Jump to: Newest in thread
The world is getting smaller in ways most don't realise. I have seen threads about image search etc but this only touches the surface. Current technology allows search facilities would shock people. The amalgamation of technology and IT giants is bringing us closer
to a world of little privacy. Software can examine picture styles hardware attributes image recognition for any location. We take pics using devices allowing access to our location time code internal bios information. Things most people do not think about . This is an intangible and abstract world where what may be safe now will not tomorrow. Personal security is almost becoming an artform. The world of cyberspace has no memory lapses. Big brother and more importantly to most here discretion is becoming impossible to truly have. |

Its a rant for another day, but net neutrality and online privacy are topics close to my heart, and they're both being eroded daily in both covert and blatant fashions.
And most people don't know about it and most who do don't care as long as they can still access Facebook.
By the time the masses are outraged it will be too late. |

Make no mistake: any legislation that lobby groups/governments put forward to combat copyright infringement is just a smokescreen for what they really want: control and censorship. |

"At the same time, if you are not doing anyting illegal you've nothing to worry about "
I could say a lot about how wrong that statement is.
I'm not about to type up a long reply on my phone, but suffice to say that's a very dangerous attitude to have. |

It's not being illegal or not is the problem. It's how perception of people you know finding out could affect your and your family or professional life. |

It's no problem at all until some stalker/nutter/weirdo takes a shine to you, and you don't have to do anything illegal for that to happen. I think if people realised how exposed they are online they wouldn't sleep half as soundly as they do. |
