while WD40 has the ability to free out rusty nuts it has a minimal lubrication qualities and usually dries off after a period of time

i find 3 in one is better it quietens squeaks and noises and last much longer

There is fantastic lube called pjur.

It's expensive but it's latex friendly and the best out there.
