I always get the impression that the whole thing is staged for the cameras and very selective in who he interviews. the guy last week that had the gun pointing at him had no intention of pulling a trigger and Kemp knew that. ching ching for the interviewees. |

I would agree with you, a few friends on fb where complaining about the fact that 80%_90% of northern Ireland avoid this like the plague and why we're t het not interviewed, but that wouldn't make very good extreme world tv |

your both a hundred percent right but ive watched all of his series and he does put hinself in sone dodgy situations when he was in poland he alnost got junped and u could see the fear in his face ... so when a gun was pointed in his face and he acted a hero I jnew it was staged.... staged or not though he does show an I sight into countries that they wouldnt necessarily want you to see |

the one thing i took from watching it was:
whats the point?
really? does it really matter any more if ireland is united or not?
why do ye have to march over a battle that took place 300 hundred years ago that really nobody gives a fuck about anymore?
from someone who has no experience with the troubles, its like a game of who can hold a grudge the longest....
pointless. |

Identity is a powerful motivator, and the troubles were about somewhat more than just holding a grudge. Ones identity is a bit like air; it's not an issue until you're denied it. Maybe try reading up on the situation ? |

I just don't think the reasons behind it matter any more, which in my opinion makes it pointless.
I don't care what anyone's religious or political views are as long as those views don't cause harm to others.
Like the old joke, which is equally funny and sad about the guy when stopped in the north was ask what religion he was. When he replied athiest he was asked Protestant athiest or catholic athiest? It shouldn't matter anymore |

I don't think ones heritage , culture or identity is pointless....quite the contrary .
I do however think ramming it down others throats or denying it to folk is pointless !!
Respect , education and trust on these issues needs to be gained.......until that time

I'll say this and say no more. I believe that the majority of the people fighting on both sides of this don't care about the various "causes". .its just used as an excuse for thuggery....or "our dads taught us to hate each other for some reason"
I don't believe cultural identity comes into it much anymore.
Apologies if I've offended anyone. |

Ireland has very little of the identity that people were fighting over left.....ask some children wghats their culture...... Were now modern multi cultured shithole that don't take care of the needy anymore...... That defo more worth worring bout than rhetorically past.....you think the future will remember me any you by our thoughts on the past....hardly. |

The majority of the people fighting stopped fighting many years ago. You may indeed believe that identity doesn't matter, but the reality for most people is otherwise, and I don't mean just in Ireland. |

I know I'm not Irish so I'm probably not really entitled to have an opinion on this?
But from a neutral perspective it looked like a pretty balanced report. Maybe not everyone was interviewed and unable to give their 2 cents.
Again, that's just from an outsiders point of view: the people who were protesting on both sides just looked like every day thugs to me who use an excuse to behave in an anti social manner and destroy properties and attack people.
Don't hate me now.
