No you don't have to be a member only need to be a member to dock the cams if it doesn't work you need your flash player updated

Is skype worth having at all? Lots of people seem to use it but when I had it all it did was slow my computer up.

Depends what you use it for. Handy for calls and cam calls. If you have it closed when not using, it shouldn't have much effect on your computer. I use it a lot with work
