A male mid wife

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

A guy has qualifed as a mid wife. He is the first ever in Ireland. What do you think of this? I would guess women would choose a female doctor for any smears and all things 'down south' so how would they feel? He has set up his own practice. Could he struggle to get business or maybe it wouldn't bother mums to be. Curious....

Crack on my brother! I rate that man anyway! I was there when my son was born and lislistening to nurses talking about how blunt the scissors were. Oh my good god! I was single then but i was not going to miss out on that. Still single now as it goes.

I believe there is a passionate caring side to alll of us. Guy/girl? No bother. .

Its not the middle ages. Fair play to him, hope he does well with his new venture as it sounds like a good idea.

Male/female doesn't bother me in the slightest.

wouldnt bother me at all , women in the throes of labour couldnt give a flying fook who sees their bits i seem to recall professing undying love to the ansthesiologist who administered epidural to me after a particularly bad 20 hours labour with no result . As long as he is competent at his job , I dout many women would reject him in his chosen role

I could not care if it was male or female or a trained chimpanzees as long as they gave me pain relief .

Most gynaecologists are men anyway.

Lets be honest, men are better at everything, so a male midwife would be welcomed.

Chefs.

Pilots,

hairdressers,

florists.

interior designers.

Mechanics,

the list goes on.

In the past women have kept childbirth a mystery, so they get flowers and chockies.

Maybe now the mystery will go, and it will be just like having a tooth out.

As a nurse myself and former midwife I think hes going to have a tough road of it being a male midwife there was a few lads. Working at the job in england while I was there and when it came down to women being given a midwife 90% of women refused to have a male midwife so its a bit of a taboo for some women even in this day and age hopefully in time attitudes will change around

There's a male midwife in the RVH in belfast with no nursing qulifications. I met him when i gave birth to my wee one nearly seven years ago and i didnt have a problem with him pulling my child out and there were students and three of them were male so fair play to men if they want to be a midwife

I would guess women would choose a female doctor for any smears and all things 'down south' so how would they feel? He has set up his own practice. Could he struggle to get business or maybe it wouldn't bother mums to be. Curious.... "
