Sounds good man but was in Belgium recently and they make butter and cheese and ice cream! This could also be something to look at?
and maybe milk shakes! Owner of the company mash direct reckons there's a good market for it! |

You need to be licensed by the department of agriculture. This would involve monthly inspections and microbiological testing both pre and post pasteurisation. You would need a proper premesis that is up to their standards and a very detailed HACCP plan. Where would you be selling your milk? You understand you would need to pay for all the required machinery, packaging, distribution, marketing etc. You would also need to do invoicing/office work, customer service etc. You can factor in 40% margin for the retailer and 20% for distribution and still come in under a euro per litre to be competitive. Also have you considered who is going to do your current farm work? that probably means staff costs too. You could need at least 50k startup cash to cover machinery and run for the 60 days it will take you to get paid. Its difficult if not impossible. |

lol nice try
Its something we have a little experience in. A farm shop wouldn't sell enough to justify the investment needed to get off the ground. You would have to think bigger. |

You don't HAVE to homogenise, but expect complaints if you don't. Some people would see the cream and think its going off. Stupid I know. Would also put off the healthy crowd seeing the rising cream. |

currently on 31ppl for base! But as for niche markets like hotels it could work as long as there willing to pay more for a better product! Try the shops inyour local area to see if that's something they would be interested? Or even do up a business plan for the venture
best of luck with it! Hard to beat a pint glass beside the milk tank |

Hunter here. Hotels and restaurants are very price sensitive. You would get even less than retail and they would expect you to deliver. That means a refrigerated van and driver too. Its a sector that is VERY difficult to make money in. |

I'm not 100% sure about milk, but I know major hotels locally expect cheddar at less than 50% retail prices buying in bulk. I can't imagine them caring what type of bottles they come in and certainly wouldn't pay a premium for any packaging. |

Thanks hunter you know the scene really welliI. II'm definitely going to do proper due diligence before any money gets spent .but fortune favors the brave I think by starting slow and small scale that would allow me to learn the ropes as it were basically I just want to add 20 or 30 k to my bussiness I have come to the conclusion that processer's are more than happy to keep their suppliers on orjust above the ppoverty line |

Good plan. Price up everything in detail and look at how long it takes to recoup your setup cost from profit. A second hand pasteuriser to about 800L/hr (not homogeniser) will set you back 25k if you are lucky enough to find one. More like 50k new. Drop me a message if you like, this stuff is my speciality. Good luck |
