I find it funny too that people feel the need to write this in their profile. It's not a handy service (well ...) or a dating site.
I asked a guy once why he describes himself this way and he said it looks better because it shows he's not unemployed.
Surely, in this time and age, being unemployed is not out of the norm anymore? And the majority are not government thiefing lazy bums?!! lol
Seems he thought it makes a better impression lol |

Being a blow in Im used to seeing people describe themselves as professional, it really is used in London to differentiate between those in paid employment and those that aren't. Nothing to do with type of employment.
House share ads will ask for either student ( implying party house ) or quiet professional ( someone who can pay the rent) Or the add will read DSS welcome - people receiving housing benefit
Personal ads will also have professional male or female, denoting that they are working, but once again its nothing to do with what they are employed as

Well, being a professional generally implies that they are halfway educated and informed which is a good trait in real life. I know this is a swingers site but if you meet someone you are provably going to actually speak to them..
I like to see something between the ears as well as between the legs |

Hmmm I would be a bit suspect on the halfway educated part. There are some pretty piss poor profiles attached to some of these "professionals" |

Wikipedia tells me:
A professional is a person who is engaged in a certain activity, or occupation, for gain or compensation as means of livelihood; such as a permanent career, not as anamateur
or pastime.[1]
[2]
The traditional professions were doctors
, engineers
,lawyers
, architects
and commissioned military officers
. Today, the term is applied to nurses
, accountants
, educators
,scientists
, technology experts
, social workers
, artists
, librarians (information professionals) and many more. |
