Under the weather so stuck in bed for the day. Would love a few movies recommendations if anyone has a minute.
Here’s a few of my favourites in case it helps with taste.
Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid
The Usual Suspects
The Great Escape
Godfather 2 |

"Millars Crossing by the Coen brothers would be ideal for you. Judging by your likes. Might need a couple of watches to grasp every nuance though.
Enjoy"
Exceptional recommendation. Absolutely love that movie. Was that Gabriel Byrnes big break? |

Ah no, we all knew him from The Riordans back in the '70s. He as Pat Barry had an adulterous affair with Maggie Riordan while working as a farmhand and her poor husband beyond in deepest darkest Africa feeding the little black babies. Oh the clergy weren't happy about that. |

Never watched the extended edition. That might be on the menu today 🤔 |

I mean if you have time, you should try watch Ainme,
Once you get past the animation aspect some of the stories are better than most TV shows I watched.
Death note is on Netflix I think and that’s brilliant. |

"For the day that's in it The French Connection is a good shout. RIP Gene.
Great stuff. Mississippi Burning was another of my favourite Gene Hackman films. Sad day 😢"
So weird. I didn't know when I listed that movie that he had passed away. It's a great movie. Or The Birdcage. I really liked Runaway Jury too. |

I've just noticed you also mentioned Buster Scruggs. I was trying to think of the full title yesterday to post it here but couldn't think of it. I've watched it a few times and love it. What a guy Buster was |

It's quite unusual and has great life lessons for us all in it/them. |

"The Ballad of Buster Scruggs
True Romance
Django
12 angry men
Roman Holiday
A real pain
Mississippi Burning
High Fidelity
The Birdcage
Into the wild "
Great list! Off to Rome for a the rugby in a few weeks. Will be doing my best Gregory Peck impression as well.
I wanted to love The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, but wasn’t that taken with it on first viewing. Perhaps it deserves another view. |

I can imagine Buster being a little bit niche perhaps. I loved it and have watched it a few times but I have known some weirdos who didn't like it. |

Always good to be reminded of Louise Daly from Bracken |

‘Some weirdos’ 🤣 Subtle. Ah sure, I’ll have to give it another go to see if I can shake the weirdo tag so |

"Intermission is better than In Brugge, surely....."
Both great films. In Brugge would take it for me. One of my favourites.
If you haven’t watched Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri give that a go. Same director as In Brugge, and a fantastic watch. Won best actress and best supporting actor from memory. Sam Rockwell is amazing in it. |

Just get this - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Christopher-8-Film-Collection-Blu-ray-Region/dp/B0C6QXZFPV/ref=asc_df_B0C6QXZFPV?mcid=6f810ab2b3bf37b9907aacfe30b99436&tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=697210726482&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=6631225147441136795&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1007850&hvtargid=pla-2194617038763&psc=1&gad_source=1
Might seem expensive but you will rewatch them all over time as they are excellent.
If you don't have 4K, Bluray version is half this price, as long as you don't buy in Golden Discs, where it's €150!! for the 4K and €70 for the BD.
Also a great test of picture/sound quality of your setup, if you're into home cinema |

For the genre you listed OP these are a few suggestions (although I expect you're up on your feet by now)
The Sting
12 Angry Men
Rear Window
North By Northwest
Casablanca
The Big Sleep
The Glenn Miller Story
