I dont believe in diets.

Eat 3 filling and healthy meals a day.

Watch portion size.

Healthy snacks.

I stop eating at 8pm.

Exercise with weights.

I recently lost almost 4kilos. Been a gym goer all my life and eat healthy enough. Allow the odd treat also, life is too short not to. Any change has to be sustainable and enjoyable.

Lots of apps out there , legit. Track your habits for reach meal. Walk after lunch and in the evenings. But don’t become a sl@ve to it.

You have to be honest with yourself re eating foods.

You don’t need to starve yourself , eat well non processed foods, breakfasts mix up with cereals , fruit etc. 2 lyre of water min a day to start. Planning is key for the week ahead , make a list you’ll get into it.

No sneaky drinks during week , leave it the weekend, that’s if you drink alcoh0l.

belfast/Down, but can travel.

The following has worked for me. I have lost 5kg with little effort since mid September.

Cut out beer and white wine. Stop eating saturated fats, which is all the tasty stuff and massively increase your protein intake.

I downloaded myfitnesspal app. You put in your height and weight, then your target weight and the app works out what you need to eat. You use it to track what you eat, by scanning barcodes or inputing foods. It breaks down your food and tracks what your levels of fat, cards and protein are and if your above or below your target.

That really helped me eat properly.

Dieting isn't cutting off food and starving yourself to lose weight, it is eating the right amount of nutrition your body needs to function.

If you wanna lose weight you can find food that has less calories but enough protien and carbs to maintain your body. It's good to have a calorie deficit and healthy snack and doing some exercises and you'll lose weight. It's all about discipline

This is great advice

Also get plenty of water, even set timers through the day and go get the glass of water, easy to forget, weights are great but if you have not done much pay for a personal trainer to give you 3 or 4 work outs and then kick on and mix and match, walking great also, started a new job where I'm more in car so time is the tough thing now, slowly getting a pre-work routine. The healthy diet and water is key and allow a treat.

From suomone that lost 6 stone 20 years ago and kept it off. Slow and steady. Start getting ur steps in . Start slow build it up. Then get rid of the sweet stuff. Plenty water. Plenty meat and veg . Don't look for quick fixes this has to be a life change not just when ur loosing weight. Best of luck with it.

I love Myfitnesspal too

For me it's about distracting myself and not comforf eating. Or at least limiting that..

Previously I used exercise to lose a lot of weight but I don't have enough hours in the day now so it's more about intake. Giving up processed sugar for me is key.

I lost 14kg in a year and still going...

I've lost a ton of weight with intermittent fasting. It's easier for me because I work shift. It's not a strict thing I just put off eating the first meal about 12 hours from the last one

Intermittent fasting, cut way back on sweet treats and reduced my bread intake, dropped a dress size and feel so much lighter in myself in about 4-6 weeks. This also eased alot of joint pain.

Speak to your doc and see a nutritionist

Getting it off might be easier than keeping it off

Throw away the scales, your clothes are the best indicator of all , it's probably the greatest topic in general of both Sexes , Weight,.... diet & lifestyle are everything but as a personal gets older everything slows down or stops , metabolism etc , but the most important thing is NOT to get obsessed or worked up as regards weight, keep everything realistic & it's important to enjoy your quest, don't let it turn into an ordeal.Best wishes OP.👍

Eat healthy, cut out the crap and get to the gym. 'Diets' don't usually work long term. It's about changing your lifestyle and bad habits. Good luck OP. It's a journey you'll love once you get going. Tough but if you make the right choices. You'll do great.

"How long approx to lose 3-4 stone in a healthy way?"

The recommended amount of loss is 2lbs per week. The reason being is that small changes in eating habits is what happens. I was told that you to fit in the gym and slim in the kitchen. Loads of good advice.given above on diets.

"How long approx to lose 3-4 stone in a healthy way?"

Anyone that will give you a period of time with any confidence doesn't know what they are talking about unfortunately.

There are way too many factors that affect it.

The only definite thing is 3 to 4 stone won't fall off over night it you do want it done in a healthy maintainable way.

There and Here

As someone who has been around this block many many times, I firmly believe calorie deficit is the only way. This is often dressed up in many guises but, at the heart of it, you need to burn more calories than you consume.

For true lasting change, you also need to think about the reasons why you're overweight and break those habits. If you're a late night snacker there's bugger all point in replacing a bag of crisps with an apple because, sure as shit, eventually that apple will become a bag of crisps again and the cycle begins once again. Replacing those habits with new non-food habits can work well.

Take some time to think about the reasons why you're overweight. If you're an emotional eater, HALT! is a great tool to help change that. If you eat out of habit or boredom, awareness of that and pausing for 5 minutes before reaching for food can be hugely beneficial.

Get the best nutritional value you can from your meals. Not everyone is cut out for three balanced meals a day, some people are better suited to 4 or 5 smaller ones.

There's no need to cut out any food group from your diet.

Planning is great, even if it's only loose. Have a rough idea of the meals you might like to eat in the week ahead and shop for the ingredients but also with enough flexibility to make something different if you don't fancy what you'd planned on a given day. Having options means you might not head down the chipper because you really really can't face Bolognese on Thursday.

Eat the food you love. Eat the food that interests you and gives you joy. Reducing calorie intake doesn't have to mean sacrifice (although it may require restraint).

Our relationship with food can be complicated; acknowledging this and analysing our own individual relationship with it is a great first step.

Lastly, do as I say, not as I do One day I'll actually take my own advice

A balance diet

You need to be in a calorie deficit in order to lose weight.

Increase your protein intake, it will keep you satiated for longer and stop you snacking.

Up your activity, be it in the gym or walking.

I forgot to say, don't reduce your calorie intake too much at the start. If you do, then stall or plateau, you'll have nowhere to go.

And accurate calorie deficit means accurate food tracking. It can be a pain in the hole to start with but eventually becomes habit

I regularly lose weight for mma fights, my advice is:

- reduce the intake of carbohydrates in your diet

- add protein and healthy fats (fish, nuts, avocado) to your diet

- add MIN 2 liters of water a day

- reduce processed food to a minimum (chips, chocolate bars, etc.)

- add some exercise, cardio, walking, etc

It should give good results, the most important thing is not to deceive yourself, good luck!

I can highly recommend slimming world, I know it's not for everyone but it worked for me. Ive lost 3 1/2 stone, it took a little less than 4 months, but that took work and dedication, I also increased my physical activity and uped my water. Best of luck with your weight loss, once you've made the decision to change, you can do it.
