Ah fair enough. I've just been talking to family in the northwest this morning. Still no power back and they've been told it will most likely be after the weekend before they get it back. The joys of living up the mountain. |

Good on you OP 👏
Some people I know are potentially still over a week away from a restoration of power.
For anyone in/around Meath, Meath Co.Council have publicised some community hubs in various towns for shower/hot water facilities, tea/coffee, phone charging etc. Trim Castle Hotel have done similar. |

"Power came back this morning but it had said we wouldn't be reconnected until Feb 5th, it's tough going, hopefully ye all get back up and running asap! "
So glad I missed it all. I have elderly neighbours and I know other people in the area have been looking after them with hot food and drinks. |

"Just a question, those still out of power I take it you have a back up generator? Like shops and other businesses, plus no water?
Nope but we will be getting one before next winter. "
Do right just an business I work for from past had diesel back-up generators in case of power cut, feel more also about without water. |

Ours back now...but feel almost guilty that we have and families with small kids or elderly people still need to suffer because of the power loss.
It's sad that you can't even have a heat in your house or hot cuppa...basic needs!! Like living in an ice age!! |

Repair cost have literally gone through the roof. Fair amount of chancer out there given the quotes I've got. But I kept my cool and eventually found a decent and qualified builder.
My heart goes out to all those without power and water. It's horrible and devastating. I hope yous all get sorted soon. ![](/icons/s/2/heart.gif) |

Saw a post on a business page on FB the other day warning people that in the run up to the storm at least 10 or 12 new roofing companies had appeared in NI.
They were warning people to check references etc because most of these companies wouldn't stand over there work and wouldn't be insured and there was a good possibility they didn't know what they were doing.
A local handyman near where I work told me the other day he has been flat out but is still charging his normal rates because he wants more business going forward. He knew of 3 customers who couldn't wait on him and used other companies who were charging 4 times their normal rate. |

It's just disgusting to exploit the situation. There should be an outburst of help rather than that. But there's good people out there and if your building is in need of repair it's important to hold your nerves and don't just go with a cowboy. ![](/icons/s/wink.gif) |
