Just curious here now to know which one are you?!
So!
You're chatting away to someone, have exchanged several messages over and back.
Do you....simply log off mid conversation or politely sign off on the conversation.

At the end of the night/evening I would offer my kind regards or warmest wishes.
Otherwise I would log off mid conversation. Why? Because the calibre/type of people I engage with on here are mutually aware that we all lives outside of Fab and things to be getting on with. They are also aware that conversations will reconvene at the earliest opportunity.
For those who are unwilling to appreciate this form of realism aren't the type of people I need for conversation, or anything else for that matter. |

I haven't had any ongoing conversations here in years but when I was I had a similar approach to Nero.
If it was a genuine two way conversation there wouldn't be any issue with either party logging out mid conversation.
I would be more concerned if someone expected anything else. |

Depends really
If it's a good long, really enjoyable chat and I've to get back to work, heading to bed etc it's only polite to say a goodbye
Sometimes the conversation is absolutely dead from the first few messages - maybe they've a load of otber conversations going on, maybe they are just not very ralkative or boring people and it's never gonna go anywhere and you just let it fizzle out... |

"As in ending the conversation completely or just logging out for the night? "
Either/Or.
Just a question out of curiosity is all.
Fab is way down my and I'm sure most people's list of priorities and signing off or not isn't a life or death situation.
I suppose if time/scenario allows common courtesy would be to sign off I'm thinking.

I don't think I could spend as much time here as you do without having had any conversations in years Reality!

I doubt many people are unwilling to appreciate that form of realism Nero.
It's fab after all!
I'm simply curious as to people's communication styles.

I dunno pretty everyone I chat to is like that whether it's fab or an app or even my own friends. Conversations are continuous and ebb flow. I might say I'm going off to bed or getting off my phone for evening if the chat is in full flow but others there's no such formalities.

Definitely politely sign off on the conversation. It's manners |

It's never been more than a hobby and I rarely spend more than half an hour each day on here.
I haven't sent an introductory message since January 2020 and haven't met anyone new in those 5 years either so any conversations are usually started by other people and most of them are across the water and are just a passing compliment on something I've said in the forums.
They fizzle out very quickly. |

Some conversations can continue over a longer period of time such as days, weeks etc so I don't feel the need to provide updates when I'm logging on, usually just continue on from where the conversation last finished...
Other conversations just naturally come to an end as I find forcing conversations it's just too much work and a waste of time 👍 |

Depends really. Sometimes if I've been chatting and know I'm heading off I'll say so. Other times if I'm just replying quickly, or I'm on and off while busy with stuff I won't.
I don't necessarily always know that I'm not going to get back to the conversation and I don't feel the need to punctuate it with things like "just putting the kettle on", "I'm going to feed the cats" or "hold on, there's someone at the door". Someone that needs that level of reassurance is unlikely to be one I'd continue a conversation with. |

I've been wondering why this place has been largely boring the arse off me lately and the penny just dropped that maybe I'm a large part of the problem because I think I've posted in at least 3/4 different threads about bins in the past 2 weeks or so alone 😆 |

In answer to OP's question - I realise I don't consider the chats to be conversations at all 🤭 my bad
It's just a few sentences here and there, sometimes they add up to a conversation over time but not all in one go.
So I don't think I ever say see ya, or night night or anything like that. ![](/icons/s/redface.gif) |
